How the test works

Once a day, every site in the test is loaded by Google Lighthouse with its mobile settings: a mid-range phone on a slow 4G connection, the same set-up as PageSpeed Insights. Each builder is judged on the median of its sites over the last 7 days, so one slow day doesn’t decide anything.

The sites are real public sites built and hosted on each builder: cafés, photographers, consultants and small shops. Builders’ own marketing sites are left out, because they aren’t what you get. Once RankDude builds its own test sites in a review, those join the test too.

What the numbers mean

Speed score
Lighthouse's overall mobile performance score, 0 to 100.
Main content shows
Largest Contentful Paint: how long until the biggest thing on the page, usually the main picture or headline, appears. Google's limit is 2.5 seconds.
Layout jumps
Cumulative Layout Shift: how much the page jumps around while loading. Google's limit is 0.1.
Busy time
Total Blocking Time: how long the phone is too busy to react to a tap. Under 200 ms is good.
Page weight
How much the phone downloads to show the page.

Which website builder is fastest?
Right now Lovable: its sites have a median mobile score of 88 and show their main content in about 3.2 s on a mid-range phone with a slow connection.
Why are the scores lower than on my own computer?
Lighthouse's mobile test slows the connection to slow 4G and the processor to a mid-range phone, the same as Google's PageSpeed Insights. That is how many visitors really see a small-business site.
Whose sites are tested?
Public sites real people built and host on each builder (cafés, photographers, small shops), and later the test sites RankDude builds in each review. The builders' own marketing sites are not tested, because they are not what you would get.
