I gave Famous.ai one message, a $7 Mini plan and a made-up Pilates studio. About 16 minutes later it had built and published the studio's booking app. Two fix prompts and about 50 minutes later, every check I could run passed. Then I attacked the app's private data twice, downloaded its code and read the billing page.

Every measurement is in the Famous.ai test results.

Live and monitored

I built one app, from one brief, on the paid Mini plan. It is as Famous.ai made it, plus two fixes, a member credits tab and four changes I asked for:

What Is Famous.ai?

Famous.ai builds a working web app from a chat. You describe the app in plain words. Famous.ai writes the screens, sets up the database that stores your data, adds log-in and hosts the app online. To change something, you type another message, and you pay for it.

You pay with build credit. The Mini plan I bought is $7 a month and includes $7 of build credit, custom domains and removal of the Famous.ai badge. Build credit used beyond that is billed automatically, which its plan list calls pay-as-you-go. Payments and emails inside the app need your own Stripe and Resend keys.

How I Tested Famous.ai

Every number here comes from my own tests and my own monitors. Nothing is estimated or copied, Famous.ai never saw the review first, and every app builder gets the same brief, checks, changes and attacks. This review is based on seven graded tests. I left three out. Payments and emails need your own keys, I stopped the twelve changes after four because of the bill, and Famous.ai has not yet answered my support question.

My tools

Famous.ai pros and cons

Pros

  • Live app from one message
  • All 24 checks passed after two fixes
  • Both attacks blocked
  • Reset email arrived in seconds
  • Admin changes reached members at once
  • Honest about missing keys

Cons

  • $89.72 of automatic extra charges
  • Export holds the front end only
  • Slow on phones: 69 out of 100
  • Three bugs in the first draft
  • First admin sign-up owns the app

Famous.ai Pricing

The $7 Mini plan includes $7 of build credit, and my test passed that quickly. Build credit used beyond the plan is billed automatically, and the plan's own list calls it pay-as-you-go. Prices read on 26 October 2026, paid month by month.

Famous.ai Cost: What My Test App Really Cost

Here is the number you will ask about first. In total I was billed $96.72: the $7 plan plus $89.72 of extra build credit that Famous.ai added automatically. That covered one build, two fix prompts (one of them test-only) and four of my twelve changes.

Read from Famous.ai's billing page at the end of the run. I have not checked the invoice, so tax is not included. The page shows one total for the project, not a price per prompt.

Famous.ai's billing page at the end: $96.72 of the $7 build credit used.

Part of this was my own doing. My test script kept sending changes, and I did not read the balance until the bill had passed $96. Famous.ai kept billing automatically past the $7 the plan includes.

Running the app costs little so far: hosting showed 0.542 hours used and $0.00 charged. I did not test what 1,000 bookings a month would cost.

Famous.ai Build Speed: One Message to a Working App

About 16 minutes after my one message, the booking app was live, and the progress bar misled me for most of them. It sat at "95% complete, 0:01 remaining" for minutes. Famous.ai's own count was 1 minute 19 seconds of "work" over 54 actions.

The progress bar at "95%, 0:01 remaining", with the app still building.

That first draft had three bugs. After two more prompts, one test-only and one fixing the bugs, all 24 checks passed. That is about 50 minutes and three prompts from my message to an app that worked.

The app published itself at its own address when the build finished. A Private or Public switch under the prompt box defaults to Public. I set it to Private, and the app was still open to anyone at its address. The Mini plan lists removal of the "Built on Famous.ai" badge, yet the badge was still on my app.

Famous.ai's closing message was honest about what was missing: "Not done: Stripe and email keys aren't set yet, nothing was tested end to end with real accounts."

Famous.ai Accuracy: Did It Build What I Asked?

Yes. After one fix, 24 of 24 checks passed. Six more checks, the payments and the two emails, need keys that are mine to supply, so I left them out. Nothing was invented: the classes, prices and coaches on the pages were the ones in my brief.

Famous.ai: the live Fitting Room timetable as a member sees it, with the class filters and the first two class cards showing places left
The member timetable on the published app, with places left on each class.

The first version had three bugs. Dates read "Invalid Date" on My bookings and in the admin's list. The member timetable showed every place free after another member had booked. And the instructor's roster said "No members booked yet" when a member was booked, so nobody could be marked as attended. One message fixed all three.

The smaller rules held as well. A new member with no credits saw Buy credits in place of Book, and an admin could add a class, see it on the member timetable, then delete it and see it go.

Famous.ai Editing: The First Four of Twelve Changes

I asked for the first four changes: a phone number at sign-up, renaming the instructor role to coach, a dark green and cream colour scheme, and an About page. Each finished in about two to three minutes and was published.

After the fourth change: the About page in the menu and the new green colours.

I stopped there, because the bill had already passed $96. The other eight changes were not run, and I did not re-run the checks after these four, so I cannot say whether any of them broke something that worked.

Famous.ai Publishing and Page Speed

Famous.ai publishes by itself: the app was live at its own deploypad.app web address as soon as the build finished. I did not connect my own domain.

Famous.ai test results: speed runs

The weak spot is speed. On Google's phone speed test the home page scored 69 out of 100 in the median. The main content took about 12 seconds to appear, and the page weighs about 3 MB. Layout shift was close to zero.

I tested the home page only, not a timetable with 100 seeded classes, and I did not count layout faults or try a real phone.

Every day I also run the Famous.ai speed test and the Famous.ai security checks.

Famous.ai Uptime: 30 Days of Checks

A review tells you what happened on one day. This tells you what happens every day after. My own monitor opens the app every five minutes for 30 days, from 26 October to 25 November 2026, and records whether it answered and how fast.

Famous.ai hosts the app, so a Famous.ai outage would show here. The record has only just started, so it holds no verdict yet.

Every check so far is on the Famous.ai uptime record.

Famous.ai Security: Logins and Private Data

I tried to read another member's bookings, and Famous.ai said no. Logged in as one member, I asked the app's data system for everyone's bookings. I got back only my own. Asking for another member's profile returned nothing, and the orders and email log came back empty.

Then I tried to make myself admin, to give myself 999 credits, and to change and delete a class. Every request returned success but changed nothing, and my role stayed member. Both attacks blocked.

The everyday flows worked too. Log-out and log-in were fine. The password reset email arrived within seconds, sent by Famous's database service, and its link opened the app's own reset page.

The admin's account list. Only the first sign-up on the admin page is admin.

There is one weak spot. The first account to register on the admin sign-in becomes admin, and later ones become members. On a new app, whoever finds that page first owns the app, not you. An instructor who signs up also lands as a member until the admin links their email.

Famous.ai Database: Does the Data Survive?

Records were saved and kept: five of six data checks I could prove. A booking and the Ask the studio message were written as real records. They stayed after a reload and after several republishes. The admin could change a class, add one and delete it, the member timetable followed, and every booking exported as a CSV file.

One check was not run: whether the data survived the colour change. I also did not open Famous.ai's own data view.

Famous.ai Payments and Emails

I did not run payments or emails, because both need keys that are yours to supply. Famous.ai set up a $95 pass and a $24 single class, but a Stripe test checkout needs your own Stripe test key and webhook secret, and a booking or admin email needs your own Resend key. I had none to give.

The app's own pricing page, with the two Buy buttons I could not take to Stripe.

Without payments, members had no credits to book with. Famous.ai had suggested an admin tool to adjust credits, so I asked for a Member credits tab in a test-only prompt. Every booking test used credits I added by hand.

The Member credits tab I asked for so that I could test booking without Stripe.

The app's Email log says honestly "RESEND_API_KEY is not set; email not sent". Famous.ai also wrote a webhook to confirm payments, and told me it was never tested with a real Stripe event.

Famous.ai Code Export and Ownership

Exporting means downloading your app's code so it can run somewhere else. On Famous.ai the Code view has a Download button, and it gave me a zip of 97 files. It holds the front end: React, Tailwind and a plain package.json.

The back end is not in it. The app talks to a database on Famous.ai's own host through a key written into the code, and the zip holds no database schema and no server functions. Your data, your members' sign-ins and the access rules stay on Famous.ai's side.

I read the zip and did not build it, so I cannot say whether the front end runs on its own. I did not read the terms. The Mini plan lists custom domains and badge removal, and nothing about downloading code.

Famous.ai Support and Cancellation

I emailed support@famous.ai a billing question and an export question, and had no reply when I wrote this. The billing page also has a Manage Subscription button, and that is where cancelling starts.

Open Billing, then Manage Subscription, then Cancel subscription at the bottom of the plan list. The box says: "This will delete all of your projects. Deleted projects cannot be restored." I reached that step and did not confirm it, so the Mini plan is still active. Its build credit resets on 25 November 2026.

Famous.ai Reviews: What Other Users Say

I have not yet read what other users say about Famous.ai, so this draft has no review scores. Read them before you decide, especially anything about how you are billed.

Final verdict: is Famous.ai worth it?

If this were my studio, I would build the first draft on Famous.ai and watch the billing page after every message. The app was good: it worked in 50 minutes, kept members' data private and was honest about the keys it lacked. The charges ran ahead of the plan, though, and the export leaves the back end behind.

It suits people who want a fast draft, will keep a close eye on spending and are happy to stay on Famous.ai's hosting. It suits you less if you need a fixed monthly cost you can plan for, or if the code must be able to leave with its data. I could not try payments or emails without your own keys, and Famous.ai has not yet answered my support question.

The seven graded tests average 3.3 out of 5, and I rate Famous.ai 3.3. The pricing test is the lowest grade: a $7 plan was billed $96.72. Export comes next, because the download is the front end only.

See the Famous.ai test results and how I rate.

Best for: People who want a quick first draft of an app, will watch the bill while they build and do not need to take the back end with them.

My grade: 3.3/5. The ten grades say where it is strong and where it is not.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Famous.ai cost, and is there a free plan?

The Mini plan I used is $7 a month with $7 of build credit. Build credit beyond that is billed automatically: my test was billed $96.72 in total. I did not test a free plan.

Is Famous.ai legit and safe?

Mostly yes, in my test. It built a live app from one message, and both attempts to read other members' data or act as admin were blocked. The weak spot: the first account to register on the admin sign-in becomes admin. I did not read the terms.

Who owns the app I build on Famous.ai?

Not known. I did not read the licence terms. What I can say is that the code download holds the front end only, and your database and sign-in accounts stay on Famous.ai's host.

Can I download my Famous.ai code?

Front end only. The Code view's Download button gave me a zip of 97 files. It has no database schema and no server functions, so the back end would have to be rebuilt.

How do I cancel Famous.ai?

Billing page. Open Manage Subscription and choose Cancel subscription. Famous.ai warns that cancelling deletes all of your projects, so download your code first. I did not confirm the cancel.
