Message check

Two calls in every test leave a message: a quote request with a name spelled out letter by letter and a best time to call back, and an after-hours emergency nobody answers. What arrived afterwards, where, and how quickly, is checked field by field.

What the message check is

A message is only useful if it reaches the business complete: name, number, address, reason and time. After each message call I open the inbox, the vendor's dashboard or its app, compare each field with what the caller actually said, and note the time between the end of the call and the message arriving.

How it works

  1. The two message calls follow their plans, with a name spelled out and a preferred time stated.
  2. After each call, the message is found wherever the vendor delivers it: email, text, dashboard or app.
  3. Each field is compared with the call: name, spelling, number, address, reason and time.
  4. The delivery time is read from the message's timestamp against the end of the call.
  5. The grade follows how many messages arrived complete and right.

What it records

Per message call
Where the message arrived, each field right or wrong, and the delivery time.

What it cannot catch

  • The delivery time is read from the message timestamps by hand.
  • The caller's own phone line carries a contact name, which some vendors put in the message header.

Where it was used

Every published review that ran this checker, with the figure it produced there, read from the review’s own data. Each figure opens the test results behind it.
