Call clips and transcripts

Every call in a receptionist review can be played and read. The listening copy shortens only the caller's own pauses, the transcript is written out and labelled turn by turn, and the untouched recording stays as the record the timings were measured on.

What the call clips and transcripts is

A raw test call has long gaps while the caller waits for the next line, and nobody wants to listen to them. The clip maker cuts those gaps on the caller's side only, never a span with sound on either side, and never the receptionist's pauses, which are the thing being graded. The transcript comes from the recording, and a build check refuses any audio clip on the site that has no transcript beside it.

How it works

  1. The caller's pauses after a receptionist turn are shortened to under a second, with a short lead-in kept and a soft join, into a separate listening copy. The original recording is never edited.
  2. Each clip is cut from the copy, its leading silence trimmed.
  3. Each clip is transcribed in pieces split at pauses.
  4. The transcript's turns are labelled caller and receptionist by matching the words against the call plan, and the caller's lines are set from the plan so they read exactly as spoken.
  5. Every quoted phrase in the review is checked to exist in its clip, and the build fails if a clip has no transcript.

What it records

Per clip
The listening copy, the edit list of what was shortened, and the transcript with speaker labels.

What it cannot catch

  • Speaker labels rest on word similarity to the plan; an unplanned exchange is labelled by hand.
  • The listening copy is edited, so timings are never read from it; they come from the untouched recording.
