Credits reader
What a task costs is read from the product's own usage page before and after the task and written into the ledger. No cost in an AI agent review is estimated.

What the credits reader is
Agents are paid for in credits, and a review that guesses what a task cost is worth nothing. The reader opens the product's usage page in the same browser session the test runs in, takes the figures as shown, and keeps the text and a screenshot of every read so the number can be checked later.
How it works
- Before a task starts, it opens the product's usage page, reloads it, waits for the figures to settle and copies the text of the usage panel.
- It reads the free, daily and monthly credit balances and the headline figure from that text, and the recent entries in the product's own credits history.
- The read is appended to a log with its time and label, together with a full-resolution screenshot, and kept as the pending reading for that task.
- After the task, it reads again, subtracts the two totals, records the minutes between the reads, and with my go-ahead adds the line to the task ledger: task, start, end, minutes, credits before, after and used.
- The ledger feeds the credits-per-task chart, the day's credit burndown and the credits grade. The ledger verifier later recomputes every figure from these reads.
What it records
- Per read
- Time, label (which task, before or after), the usage panel's text and a screenshot.
- Per task
- Start and end times, minutes, credits before, credits after and credits used.
What it cannot catch
- Each product needs its own small adapter that knows where its usage page is and how its figures are worded; only the products already reviewed have one.
- It needs the live browser session the test runs in; it cannot read a product it is not signed in to.
- The price of one credit, needed to turn credits into money, is read at the checkout by hand.
