Google's coding agent lost nearly half its visits. OpenCode didn't.
The most visited coding agent dragged the whole market down. A smaller rival jumped 43% and has never dipped.

Gemini CLI, Google's coding agent and still the most visited, fell 48.4% in September. OpenCode jumped 43% the same month. And that's not even its wildest number.
The short version
- -48.4%: Gemini CLI's Google visits in one month.
- 1.7 million: visits Gemini CLI lost on its own.
- -27.4%: the whole market, August to September.
- +43%: OpenCode, in that same month.

A rough September
AI coding agent sites got about 4.9 million visits from Google in September.
In August, they got about 6.8 million. That's a drop of 27.4%.
The peak was July, with about 7.4 million visits. September was the lowest month since March.
Still, the market is up 119.3% on a year ago. So who pulled it down?
The big slide
Mostly Gemini CLI. It's still the most visited site here.
But it fell from about 3.5 million visits to about 1.8 million. That's down 48.4%.
That's a big fall for a site that grew so fast.
That one site lost about 1.7 million visits. The whole market lost about 1.9 million.
Take Gemini CLI out, and the market fell just 5.3%.
Cursor slipped too. It fell 18.1%, to about 1 million visits.
So who went the other way?
The numbers

- +43%
- Gemini CLI in one monthmost visited site
- -48.4%
- OpenCode since October 2025in 11 months

Enter OpenCode
OpenCode went from about 254,000 visits to about 363,000.
That's up 43% in one month. It's now the fourth most visited site.
Now the wild part. In October 2025, it had about 6,900 visits.
That's about 52 times bigger in under a year. That's wild.
It grew every single month in my data. Not one dip.
Was it a fluke? The search data says no.
People know its name
In the US, people searched for OpenCode about 165,000 times in September.
That puts it first on my US brand search list for this market.
Its best month was August, with about 201,000 searches.
Last October, it got about 18,100 searches. Gemini CLI gets exactly that now.
Across the whole market, US brand searches rose 142.4% in a year.
My guess? More people know OpenCode by name, so they go find it. I can't prove that from this data.
Will it last? You can watch every month on my AI coding agent statistics page.
“Gemini CLI still leads. But OpenCode is the one with momentum.”
How I measured this
Visits are DataForSEO estimates of visits from Google search, worldwide. They are estimates, not people. More in my methodology and on the DataForSEO page.
