Editing Freedom
n/aNot Tested- Method
- The twelve fixed edits were planned for the cafe site.
- Edits done
- 2 of 12
- AI limit reached after
- 5 pages
- Remark
- Not graded: 2 of 12 edits is too few to score. I did not buy more AI usage.
Raw notes
The twelve fixed edits were planned for the cafe site. They are made with the AI chat or in the editor and checked on the live site.
2 of the 12 were done: the site-wide font and the site-wide colours. Clicking the second theme, 'Early Shift', in the Style Guide changed both on every page at once, and a phone preview of all five pages opened with one click.
The other 10 were not run. Right after the About and Contact pages were built, the chat said 'You've reached your AI usage. Resets in 4 days', and the top bar said 'You've reached this month's AI limit.'
- I did not try the editor by hand for the other ten edits, so this says nothing about how easy they are without the AI.
SEO Basics
n/aNot Tested- Method
- Each point is read in the live HTML and files.
- Points seen on the live pages
- 8 of 12
- Images with alt text, Home
- 18 of 21
- Remark
- Not graded: my own noindex switch changed the files I would grade, and three of the twelve points were not tried.
Raw notes
Each point is read in the live HTML and files. Before I hid the site, I read its sitemap.xml and robots.txt. I then switched Indexing off in Site settings, published again, and read the files again.
On every page: its own title and description, one H1, a canonical tag, and Open Graph tags. Structured data is a WebSite and an Organization entry, with no cafe or menu entry. 18 of 21 images on the Home page have alt text. Heading levels skip on 4 of 5 pages.
Before I hid it, robots.txt read 'User-agent: * Allow: /' and sitemap.xml listed all 5 pages. Site settings, Discoverability, has an Indexing switch and 'AI-generated / Custom' choices for robots.txt, sitemap.xml and JSON-LD. With Indexing off, every page says 'noindex', robots.txt blocks everything including AI crawlers, and the sitemap is gone (404).
Clean addresses (/menu, /about), 301 redirects (a Redirects screen exists) and a per-page noindex were not tested.
- The test site is hidden from search on purpose, so Search Console and AI-crawler checks were not run.
Hosting, Domain & Selling
n/aNot Tested- Method
- Each business point was tried on the live site as far as the free plan and the checks allowed.
- Business points tried
- 2 of 12
- Form messages sent
- 0 of 2 tries
- Remark
- Not graded: the form was stopped by a human check, and most other points need a paid plan or a shop.
Raw notes
Each business point was tried on the live site as far as the free plan and the checks allowed. At each wall I recorded its words.
The contact form did not send. I filled name, email and message and pressed 'Send message'. The page answered 'Something went wrong while sending your message. Please try again.' and showed a Cloudflare 'Verify you are human' box. I did not tick it, because a test may not pass a human check. It failed the same way twice, once in a clean browser and once in my test Chrome. Relume's settings say 'Submissions land in your Forms settings' and its pricing page limits Free to 20 form submissions a month.
A custom domain: the publish panel has 'Add custom domain', and the pricing page lists 'Custom domain + SSL' under Launch hosting only. I did not connect one. The free site shows the 'Built in Relume' badge, which only Launch removes.
Selling, bookings, a blog, a mailbox and a test order were not tried: my brief has no shop, and I saw no checkout in Relume Publish. The pricing page pop-up says 'Add a blog, portfolio or any collection to your Relume site' (a CMS), which I did not use.
- No domain was connected, no order was placed and no mailbox was made.
Export & Ownership
n/aNot Tested- Method
- I opened the export options and the unpublish screen and read the words on each.
- Export formats listed
- 8
- Export that ran on Free
- 0
- Remark
- Not graded: the exports are behind a paid plan, and the Publish site has no download that I found.
Raw notes
I opened the export options and the unpublish screen and read the words on each. I did not buy anything.
Relume has two products: Publish (host the site on Relume) and Export (take the work to Figma, Webflow or React). On the Export side, the menu lists Figma, Webflow, React, HTML, 'Export to Claude Design', TXT, CSV and Excel. Pressing HTML opened 'Upgrade required: Export your project. Upgrade to export all pages and Style Guides into the platform of your choice to continue building and publishing your website.' The same free project showed only its Home page; Menu, About, Catering and Contact were blurred with 'Upgrade to view pages'.
In Publish, a panel says 'Need this in Webflow? Your AI tool can rebuild this project as a Client-First Webflow site using the Relume Publish MCP.' I found no button to download the Publish site's code or pages. Site settings has 'Unpublish Site: Your site published URL will no longer be accessible to anyone.'
- I did not read the terms on who owns the content, and I did not move a domain out.
Help & Support
n/aNot Tested- Method
- I read the support page and looked for a published support email address.
- Support email shown
- None
- Reply time promised
- 24 hours or less
- Remark
- Not graded: nothing was sent, so there is no answer to time or check.
Raw notes
I read the support page and looked for a published support email address.
The support page offers a 'Submit Request' button ('We typically reply in 24 hours or less'), Resources and a Community of 10k+ members. It shows no support email address. A round chat button sits in the corner of the page.
I did not send the three standard questions: the only emails on the site are for affiliates and careers, and I will not guess an address. No human reply or chat was tried, so support is not graded.
- Five help-centre searches and the three standard questions were not run.
Prompt to Live Site
3/5Tested- Method
- The cafe brief was pasted word for word into Relume's Brief box.
- Brief to first finished Home page
- 3 min 26 s
- Brief to a live site with five pages
- About 22 min
- Follow-up messages I had to send
- 3
- Pages live
- 5 of 5
- Remark
- About 22 minutes is in the 20-to-39 band: 3/5. The first draft was fast, but four of the five pages needed a request from me.
Raw notes
The cafe brief was pasted word for word into Relume's Brief box. The clock ran from pressing the send arrow to the site answering at a public address, with every page of the brief loading. I made the follow-up requests the AI asked for myself and counted that time. Only the cafe brief was run: the free plan allows one small site a month.
The first finished Home page, with its sitemap, wireframe and design, was on screen after 3 min 26 s. The Menu, About, Catering and Contact pages were created empty, and the AI said 'say the word and I'll build them out'.
I asked for them in three more messages: the Menu page, the Catering page, and the About and Contact pages together. Then I pressed Publish, passed a three-step panel (domain, search appearance, site health) and the site was live at cvw4vswm.relumesite.ai. From brief to a live site with all five pages took about 22 minutes.
Relume's panel showed a site health score of 95 before publishing and, after it, 96 for speed, 93 for accessibility, 100 for best practices and 100 for SEO. Those are Relume's own scores, not mine.
- One brief of the three, because the free plan covers one small site a month. Times come from my session log. The live moment was read from the panel, so it can be off by about 30 seconds.
Design & Mobile Layout
3/5Tested- Method
- Every page of the cafe site was loaded at 360, 768 and 1440 pixels wide on the live address, before I edited anything.
- Design faults, 5 pages
- 7
- Critical accessibility problems (phone width)
- 5 pages
- Serious link-name problems
- 5 pages
- Sideways scrolling
- None
- Placeholder 'Logo' in the menu bar
- All 5 pages
- Remark
- 7 faults is in the 6-to-10 band: 3/5. The page looks polished; the faults are the badge and menu overlap, small tap targets and the missing logo.
Raw notes
Every page of the cafe site was loaded at 360, 768 and 1440 pixels wide on the live address, before I edited anything. The checker counted sideways scrolling, tap targets under 24 pixels, text under WCAG AA contrast, placeholders, broken images and overlapping text, once per type per page. I also ran axe-core on every page at 1440 and 390 pixels and walked each page with the Tab key.
7 faults on 5 pages: small tap targets on 2 pages (Home and Catering) and overlapping text on all 5. No sideways scrolling, no broken image and no contrast fault was found.
The corner badge 'Built in Relume' stays on screen over the page on phones. The menu bar shows a grey script 'Logo' where the cafe name should be, although Relume's health check says 'Placeholder content: None found'.
Accessibility: axe-core found one critical problem on every page at phone width (an aria-allowed-attr fault), and a serious link-name problem on every page at both widths. Heading levels skip on 4 of 5 pages. Walking the Tab key reached 11 to 17 items per page, and the Contact page had 3 items with no visible focus ring.
The photographs are AI-made, and the AI said so in its summary. One shows a menu board and a coffee machine label that are not real.
- The checker flags floating items such as the badge, which a paid plan removes. I did not look at every flagged overlap one by one. One brief of three.
Brief & Copy Accuracy
5/5Tested- Method
- The cafe brief has 19 facts the checker looks for: name, owner, year, address, phone, email, both sets of opening hours, five prices, oat milk, Wi-Fi, the dog-friendly patio, catering, and the Instagram name.
- Facts on the pages
- 19 of 19
- Wrong or missing
- 0
- Made-up reviews, awards or staff
- 0
- Photographs
- AI-made, said so
- Remark
- 19 of 19 with nothing invented is the top band: 5/5.
Raw notes
The cafe brief has 19 facts the checker looks for: name, owner, year, address, phone, email, both sets of opening hours, five prices, oat milk, Wi-Fi, the dog-friendly patio, catering, and the Instagram name. The checker loaded all five pages and searched the visible text. I then read every page by hand for anything the brief did not give: reviews, awards, staff, figures or extra social accounts.
19 of 19 facts were on the pages and none was wrong. Prices, hours, address, phone, email and the Instagram name all match the brief. No review, award, staff member or extra social account was added, which is what the brief asked.
The AI kept to the brief even where it had gaps. The Catering page answers 'What does it cost?' with 'It depends on your numbers and what you'd like, so ask for a quote', and the AI told me which three things it did not know (delivery, weekends, dietary needs) instead of making them up.
Small wording the brief did not give: 'Whole rye sourdough loaves to slice and share', 'Open seven days a week' (true from the hours) and 'Dogs are welcome on the patio'. I did not count these as invented facts.
- One brief of three, so this is 19 facts and not 60. The checker flagged nothing invented; the hand read is mine.
Page Speed
4/5Tested- Method
- Lighthouse 13.5 with mobile settings ran three times on the Home, Menu and Catering pages of the live site (9 runs), and three times on the desktop setting (9 runs), with the computer otherwise idle.
- Mobile median, 9 runs
- 79
- Desktop median, 9 runs
- 97
- Slowest page, mobile
- 78 (Menu)
- Fastest page, mobile
- 80 (Catering)
- Largest Contentful Paint, median range
- 4.2 to 4.6 s
- Remark
- A median of 79 is in the 75-to-89 band: 4/5.
Raw notes
Lighthouse 13.5 with mobile settings ran three times on the Home, Menu and Catering pages of the live site (9 runs), and three times on the desktop setting (9 runs), with the computer otherwise idle. The median of the 9 mobile runs is the grade. The scale asks for 18 runs on six pages; the free plan gave me one site with five pages.
The median of the 9 mobile runs was 79. By page: Home 79, Menu 78, Catering 80. The desktop median was 97.
Largest Contentful Paint (how long the main picture takes) was 4.2 to 4.6 seconds on a phone. The Home page weighs 1.3 MB, Menu 0.6 MB and Catering 0.4 MB. Total Blocking Time was 0 to 20 milliseconds and layout shift was 0 to 0.001.
Lighthouse also scored accessibility 79 to 81 and best practices 96. Its SEO score was 69, because I had hidden the site from search.
- 9 mobile runs on three pages, not 18 on six. One region. Relume's own panel showed 96 for performance on the same site, from its own test, so the two numbers differ.
Pricing & Value
4/5Tested- Method
- Every plan was read on Relume's Publish pricing page, in the yearly and the monthly view.
- Launch hosting, billed yearly
- $12 a month (144 dollars)
- Launch hosting, billed monthly
- $16 a month
- Pro (AI), billed yearly
- $14 a month
- Free: page views a month
- 1,500
- Remark
- 144 dollars a year is in the 120-to-199 band: 4/5. Nothing is sold through Relume, so transaction fees did not apply.
Raw notes
Every plan was read on Relume's Publish pricing page, in the yearly and the monthly view. I could not open a checkout without a card, so these are page prices. The figure graded is the yearly cost of the cheapest plan that connects a custom domain and removes the Relume badge.
Free hosting is $0: a free relumesite.ai address, a 'Relume badge' that is 'Always shown', 1,500 page views a month, 20 form submissions a month, analytics for 7 days, and AI usage for '1 small website per month'.
Launch hosting is $12 a month billed yearly (144 dollars a year) or $16 billed monthly, per site. It adds a custom domain with SSL, no badge, 6,000 page views, unlimited forms and full analytics. The Pro plan (more AI usage) is $14 a month billed yearly or $24 billed monthly.
The page has two oddities. The Pro button says 'Start a 7-day free trial', while an old question further down says 'As of now, we're not offering a 7-day trial for the Pro plan.' And it names the free address both 'relumesite.ai' and 'relume.live'; mine was relumesite.ai.
The renewal price is not stated. The 144 dollars is the graded figure: no AI plan is needed to keep a site live.
- I paid nothing. The renewal price and an itemised bill need a purchase. The Export product has its own prices, which I did not grade.
Coverage
Tested
- One site built from the fixed cafe brief and published on the free plan
- 19 brief facts checked on all five live pages
- Layout, accessibility (axe-core) and a keyboard walk on 5 pages at three widths
- Lighthouse on three pages, three mobile and three desktop runs each, with the machine idle
- A site-wide theme change, the AI usage meter and the phone preview
- The contact form, the indexing switch, the export and unpublish screens, and the pricing page
Not tested or limited
- Free plan only: exports, a custom domain, the Relume badge removal and more AI usage are behind a paid plan, and I did not buy one
- One brief of the three: the free plan covers one small site a month, so only the cafe was built; the shop and photographer sites were not
- Editing is not graded: the AI limit was reached after the five pages were built, so only 2 of 12 edits were done
- SEO is not graded: I hid the test site from search, which changed the files that would be graded
- The contact form was stopped by a Cloudflare human check, so form email, the domain, a blog, bookings and an order were not tested
- Export and ownership are not graded: the export was behind 'Upgrade required' and the Publish site has no download
- Support is not graded: Relume shows no support email address and I did not guess one; the request form and chat were not used
- Page speed used 9 mobile runs on three pages, not 18 on six; uptime is monitored from 29 October 2026 for 30 days
Still to test
- The shop and photographer briefs, after the AI usage resets
- The ten remaining edits, by hand and with the AI
- A published site on Launch hosting: a custom domain, form email, the badge and the renewal price
- An export to Webflow or Figma on a paid plan
- Support's answer to the three standard questions
