Not graded: 4 of 12 edits is too few to score. Nothing blocked the others; I ran out of time for them.

Mobirise's HTML Editor and CSS Editor side by side with the code of the hero block, opened on the free plan
T01-2 The code editor opened from a block.
Raw notes

The twelve fixed edits were planned for the cafe site. They are made in the editor and checked on the page.

4 of the 12 were done and worked at once: the site font, the site colours, a line of text and a duplicated section. In Site Styles, changing the Title 1 font to Cal Sans or the main colour to orange changed the whole page in about 3 seconds. Only 3 fonts are offered (Brygada 1918, Cal Sans, Special Gothic).

A block has a code button. On the free plan it opened a full HTML and CSS editor, so you can add your own code. I looked at it and did not add any. 'Create New Page' made an empty page with no menu on it, so I did not count the add-a-page edit as done.

The other 7 were not finished: a button link, moving a section, a form field, replacing and cropping a picture, a phone-only change and an AI rewrite. I did not republish these edits, so the live test site is still the first draft.

  • I did not try the AI rewrite or the AI picture tools, which may use up the 3 monthly generations.

Remark
Not graded: my own noindex change altered the files I would grade.
Raw notes

Each point was read in the live HTML and files. Then I switched on the robots.txt setting, added a noindex line in the page head and published again.

The page has a title and a description. It has no H1 (0 headings of the top level), no canonical tag, no Open Graph tags, no structured data and no page language. 0 of 57 images have alt text. 36 images are larger than they need to be.

No sitemap.xml and no robots.txt were made on the first publish (both 404). Site Settings has 'Use robots.txt' and 'Use sitemap.xml' switches, both off by default. I turned robots.txt on with 'Disallow: /' and published again, and robots.txt still answered 404. The noindex line I added in 'Before </head>' did appear on the live page.

  • The test site is hidden from search on purpose, so Search Console and AI-crawler checks were not run.

Remark
Not graded: the form gave no answer, and most other points need a paid plan or a shop.

A banner over the published site reading The site was made with Free AI Website Builder with buttons Get AI Kit and Remove This Banner
T03-1 The banner on a free site.
Raw notes

Each business point was tried on the live site as far as the free plan and the checks allowed.

The contact form has Name, Phone and Email boxes and no message box. I filled all three and pressed 'Send Message'. Nothing was shown within 8 seconds: no thank-you and no error. The page holds a hidden 'Thanks for filling out the form!' text that never appeared. I do not know where the message went.

A custom domain: the pricing page lists 'Connect Custom Domains' under BASE and GROW only. I did not connect one. Every free page shows a banner, 'The site was made with Free AI Website Builder', with a 'Remove This Banner' button that goes to the paid plans.

Selling, bookings, a blog and a test order were not tried. My brief has no shop.

  • No domain was connected, no order was placed and no mailbox was made. I did not search an inbox for the form message.

T04-1 The wall after choosing a zip download.
Raw notes

I opened the Publish dialog and chose 'Download in .zip'.

The Publish dialog has two choices: 'Subdomain on mobirisesite.com' and 'Download in .zip'. Choosing the zip showed 'This feature is available with our premium plans', with Cancel and Upgrade buttons, and no file downloaded. The pricing page lists 'Site Export' under BASE and GROW.

The pricing page also says a site keeps working after a plan ends, but the premium blocks stop being editable. I did not read the terms on who owns the content.

  • I did not move a domain out or read the terms.

Not graded: a vendor reply is needed first.
Raw notes

I looked for a published support email address and sent my three standard questions once.

The only address on the free site is support@mobirise.com, in the 'Report Abuse' link at the bottom. I sent my three standard questions there on 29 October 2026. No reply has come yet, so support is not graded.

  • A chat or form was not used. A help-centre search was not run.

T06-2 The meter after one brief.
Raw notes

The cafe brief was pasted word for word into the box on ai.mobirise.com. The clock ran from pressing Generate Website to the site answering at a public address. I answered nothing but the Google sign-in the page asked for, chose the first of four layouts and pressed Publish. Only the cafe brief was run: the free plan allows 3 generations a month.

Pressing Generate Website without an account opened a sign-in page. After I signed in with Google, the AI showed four layouts for the brief, and I chose the first. The editor opened with one page.

I pressed Publish and the dialog offered a free address, 3349635.mobirisesite.com. The site was live about 10 seconds after I pressed the button. From pressing Generate Website to a live site took about 5 minutes, and 2 minutes 36 seconds of that was the sign-in.

The editor then showed 'Free', and the Sites panel said '1 of 3 sites created' and '2 generations left'. One brief used one of the 3 monthly generations.

  • One brief of the three. Times come from my session log; the sign-in is included. The generation count is the one Mobirise shows.

T07-2 The published site on a phone.
Raw notes

The live cafe site was loaded at 360, 768 and 1440 pixels wide before I edited anything. My design test counted sideways scrolling, tap targets under 24 pixels, text under WCAG AA contrast, placeholders, broken images and overlapping text, once per type per page. I also ran axe-core at 1440 and 390 pixels and walked the page with the Tab key. I clicked every menu link.

3 faults on 1 page: sideways scrolling at 360 pixels, tap targets under 24 pixels ('Report Abuse' and the menu button) and low-contrast text. No broken image, placeholder or overlap was found.

Every menu link (Home, Menu, About, Catering, Contact Us) goes to '#'. Clicking one scrolls back to the top and does nothing else. The same is true of the Order Now, Read More and Learn More buttons.

On a phone the headline breaks in the middle of a word: 'Neighborho' then 'od Café'. The page is 23,888 pixels tall on a desktop and has 57 pictures.

Accessibility: axe-core found 10 low-contrast items, 8 nested interactive controls and 4 links with no name, all serious, plus a missing page language. The Tab key reached 14 of 62 items at desktop width, and 13 of those had no visible focus ring.

  • One page, one brief of three. The test counts each fault type once per page, so a long page with many faults of one type still counts once.

The published cafe site with a Meet Our Dynamic Duo section showing four stock photo people titled Friendly Barista, Cafe Specialist and Pastry Chef
T08-2 Staff cards I never asked for.
Raw notes

The cafe brief has 19 facts the checker looks for: name, owner, year, address, phone, email, both sets of opening hours, five prices, oat milk, Wi-Fi, the dog-friendly patio, catering and the Instagram name. The checker loaded the live page and searched its text. I then read every line by hand for anything the brief did not give: reviews, awards, staff, dates, figures or extra social accounts.

15 of 19 facts were on the page. Missing: the year 2019 (it appears only in a layout preview), the cardamom bun at $4.50, the breakfast sandwich at $8.95, and the Instagram name. One line is wrong: 'Join us from 7 am to 4 pm daily', where the brief says 7 am to 3 pm on weekdays and 8 am to 4 pm at weekends. A question further down gives the right hours.

The AI made things up, although the brief said not to. It wrote 3 customer reviews with names (Lily Harper, Nate Long, Zoe Rivers), 3 staff cards with stock photos (a Friendly Barista, a Cafe Specialist and a Pastry Chef, beside Mara), and 6 blog posts dated 2023, one about a Halloween special.

It also stated things I never gave: vegan pastries, ingredients from nearby farms, a weekend brunch and 'everything made from scratch'.

  • One brief of three, so this is 19 facts and not 60. The checker flagged only one made-up item; the invented items above come from my hand read.

Remark
A median of 70 is in the 50-to-74 band: 3/5.
Raw notes

Lighthouse 13.5 with mobile settings ran three times on the live page, then three times on the desktop setting, with the computer otherwise idle. The median of the mobile runs is the grade. The scale asks for 18 runs on six pages; the free plan gave me one site with one page.

The median of the 3 mobile runs was 70 (69, 73 and 70). The desktop median was 82 (82, 82 and 81).

Largest Contentful Paint (how long the main picture takes) was 4.7 to 5.5 seconds on a phone. The page weighs 8.5 MB. Total Blocking Time was 0 to 10 milliseconds and layout shift was 0.002.

Lighthouse also scored accessibility 83 and SEO 63 (I had hidden the site from search).

  • 3 mobile runs on one page, not 18 on six. One region.

Pricing & Value

GROW, one year

Remark
199 dollars a year is in the 120-to-199 band: 4/5. The renewal price is not stated, so I could not check the renewal rule.

Mobirise's pricing page with two plans, BASE at 199 dollars and GROW at 249 dollars, listing sites, AI generations and a Get Now button
T10-1 Mobirise's pricing page, BASE and GROW.
Raw notes

Every plan was read on the pricing page at mobirise.com/p. I could not open a checkout without a card, so these are page prices. The figure graded is the yearly cost of the cheapest plan that connects a custom domain, allows an export and removes the banner.

Free costs $0: 3 AI generations a month, up to 3 online sites and a Mobirise banner on every page.

BASE is $199 for one year: 3 online sites, 100 AI generations a month, your own domain, site export and no banner. GROW is $249 for one year: 10 sites and 1,000 generations a month. Both come with all 220 themes and extensions, a 14-day money-back promise and payment through 2Checkout.

The page says that if you do not renew, published sites keep working but premium blocks stop being editable and updates and support end. It does not give a renewal price.

  • I paid nothing. The renewal price and an itemised bill need a purchase.

Coverage

Tested

  • One site built from the fixed cafe brief and published on the free plan
  • 19 brief facts checked on the live page, then every line read by hand
  • Layout, accessibility (axe-core) and a keyboard walk on the page at three widths, and every menu link clicked
  • Lighthouse on the page, three mobile and three desktop runs, with the machine idle
  • Four edits (font, colours, a line of text, a duplicated section), the code editor, a new page and the phone preview
  • The contact form, the zip download, the pricing page and the generations meter

Not tested or limited

  • Free plan only: the zip download, a custom domain and removal of the banner are behind a paid plan, and I did not buy one
  • One brief of the three: the free plan gives 3 generations a month, so only the cafe was built; the shop and photographer sites were not
  • Editing is not graded: 4 of the 12 edits were done and 8 were not
  • SEO is not graded: I hid the test site from search, which changed the files that would be graded
  • The contact form showed no answer, so form email, the domain, a blog, bookings and an order were not tested
  • Export and ownership are not graded: the zip download was behind 'This feature is available with our premium plans'
  • Support is not graded: one email was sent and no reply had come when I wrote this
  • Page speed used 3 mobile runs on one page, not 18 on six; uptime is monitored from 29 October 2026 for 30 days

Still to test

  • The shop and photographer briefs, after the generations reset
  • The eight remaining edits, and the AI rewrite and picture tools
  • A published site on BASE: a custom domain, the banner removal, the export and the renewal price
  • Support's answer to the three standard questions
