“ai assistants” is searched about 1,000,000 times a month worldwide, 30% of it in the US.

Google Trends barely registered “ai assistants” until February 2025; interest then climbed to its peak in May 2026. Americans make 30% of the searches but only 8.1% of the visits, because the big sites also draw heavily from India, Germany and Canada.

Google Trends shows direction, not volume. Interest is lower than a year ago, and I only trust that when the visits move the same way.

More visits than a year ago, more people searching by name, and the next six months look like growth.

The fastest growers over the year, Fyxer, Felo AI and Phia, each grew several times over, usually from a small base. The losers, led by Lavender, lost most of their search visits (-98%).

ChatGPT and DuckDuckGo AI Chat together hold 89% of all visits. Below the top five the market is long and thin: the other 134 sites share 4.3%.
