My rating
4.1/5Good
Every fact right, and the code is yours. Every change waits on the AI and uses credits.
Best for: an accurate site fast, if you are happy to make every change by chat. Not for drag-and-drop editing.
I tested Lovable, an AI website builder, hands-on on the website side: 3 sites from my briefs, 60 facts, 12 edits, a test order and 3 support questions. It got all 60 facts right, put each site live in about 4 minutes and did all 12 edits by chat. Every edit waits on the AI and uses credits, and 9 of 12 business features were ready. Every measurement is in the Lovable test results.
What I paid for, and the 3 sites I built on Lovable
Live and monitored
I used a paid Lovable Pro plan and built three sites with its AI. Apart from my test edits, they're exactly as Lovable made them:
Full code download that runs elsewhere, plus CSV data export
Help and supportThe in-app AI answered all three right in about 30 seconds
5/5Excellent
The in-app AI answered all three right in about 30 seconds
Price$252 a year for your own domain, plus credits for every edit
3/5Average
$252 a year for your own domain, plus credits for every edit
My verdict
+0.2
I added 0.2 because the design faults are small menu links and pale labels on otherwise clean pages, the same reason I gave Wix. The credits and setup work are already counted in the pricing and features grades.
Overall
4.1/5Good
The 10 graded tests plus my verdict.
What Is Lovable?
Lovable builds websites and web apps. You get a chat box, a live preview and hosting, with no templates and no drag-and-drop editor.
You paste in what your business needs, and the AI builds the pages, text, photos and menu in about two minutes.
After building the shop, the AI listed what worked and what didn't yet, like online payment.
After that, every change is a chat message: "move the hours under the hero", "add an Events page". The AI edits the code, checks its work and tells you what changed.
Behind the scenes, Lovable Cloud adds a database, email sending and Stripe payments when you ask for them. Plans and credits are below.
How I Measured the Lovable AI Website Builder
Every number here comes from my own tests and tools. Nothing is estimated or copied, Lovable never saw the review first, and every builder gets the same briefs and checks.
All on 22 October 2026, on the three sites above. Uptime and prices keep being measured for 30 days.
How I rate
Each of the ten tests gets a 1 to 5 grade on the same scale for every builder. I average them, then may move the result by up to one point, and always say why. For Lovable: 3.9 from the tests, plus 0.2, so 4.1 out of 5.
Lovable pros and cons
Pros
All 60 facts right, nothing made up
A live site in about 4 minutes
All 12 edits worked by chat
Fast, light pages
Full code export that runs elsewhere
AI writes titles, descriptions and alt text
Cons
Every edit waits on the AI and uses credits
No drag-and-drop editor
Payments, email marketing and bookings take setup
No sitemap, canonical tags or schema by default
Small menu links and pale labels
"Edit with Lovable" badge until you hide it

Pro, yearly$252 a year$504
Pro, monthly$300 a year$600
Same price every year. Bigger credit packs cost more.
Credits pay for the AI. Every build and edit uses some: my café's 14 messages used 12.2 credits, so Pro's 100 a month is roughly 100 small changes.
Unused monthly credits expire after two months; extra credits can be bought and last a year.
Selling with Lovable's payments costs 2.9% + 30¢ per sale.
Live price tracker
My tracker reads Lovable's US pricing page every day, so any change shows up here.

My take
The price is about $250 a year. The real question is credits: a small site that changes rarely is fine on Pro; if you tinker every day, you'll need a bigger pack.

Lovable Uptime Test: 30 Days on My 3 Sites
I'm watching my three Lovable sites for 30 days, 22 October to 21 November 2026.
My own monitor opens each site every five minutes and records whether it answered and how fast. Lovable hosts all three, so a Lovable outage would show here.
Each site has its own monitor. Pick a day on the strip to see every check from it.
Is it really Lovable serving these sites?
Yes. The shop's address only points to Lovable's server, every answer carries Lovable's own deployment signature, and each page includes Lovable's badge code. RankDude itself runs elsewhere (Vercel).

I open the app every 5 minutes, day 11 of 30. All 3 sites are on the full page. Lovable uptime record
A ceramics shop: three products with prices and colours, shipping, returns, pickup and a contact page.
A café and bakery: menu prices, opening hours, the address, catering and a contact page.
A wedding photographer: four packages with prices, a booking form, the address, and no made-up reviews.
Each brief holds 20 facts I can check. I timed each build and read every page.
Step by step
The chat. I pasted the brief and pressed Enter. For the shop, Lovable asked one question (set up Shopify?), which I skipped.
The build. The AI wrote the site in about 2 minutes, with a live preview filling in as it went.
The summary. It told me plainly what worked and what didn't, like "people can't pay online yet".

Each brief had 20 facts: prices, address, hours, phone, policies and pages.
Every price, address, phone number and opening hour matched the brief.
Every page I asked for was there, including Shipping & Returns, Catering and a booking form.
Nothing was made up: no fake testimonials, no extra products, no invented addresses.
The only things the AI made itself were the photos, and it told me to swap in real ones.
You should still read your site before launch, but here you'll be checking, not rewriting.
Design on Phones and Desktops
Design on phones and desktops
1/5Poor
I checked all 15 pages on a phone, tablet and computer for design faults: hard-to-read text, overlaps, placeholders, broken images, sideways scrolling and tiny buttons.
The designs are clean and polished and fit each business.

But I counted 22 faults:

Both are quick fixes: ask the AI for bigger menu links and darker labels. On a paid plan you can also remove the "Edit with Lovable" badge, which shows on every page until you do.
Editing Your Lovable Site

Adding a form field: one message, and the AI explains what it changed.Centring the headline on phones only, by chat.
The trade-off is speed and cost: most edits took 1 to 2 minutes of waiting, and each one uses credits. Small tweaks you'd drag into place in a second take a message here.
Lovable Page Speed
Page speed
4/5Good
What I tested
Six pages: the home page and one inner page of each site.
Three runs each, 18 in all; I use the middle result.
With Google's own speed test (Lighthouse), acting like a phone on mobile data.
It gives a score out of 100: 90 or more is fast, 50 to 89 is okay, under 50 is slow.

Lighthouse mobile test, middle of three runs per page. 90 or more is fast.
Every page scored between 76 and 85: good, not quite fast. The main content took a few seconds to appear:

Shop, home3.5 s
Shop, shop page3.7 s
Photographer, home4.0 s
Café, home4.2 s
Photographer, portfolio4.6 s
On a simulated phone connection, middle of three runs. Under 2.5 seconds is good.
Google wants under 2.5 seconds. Lovable took about 3.6, less than half of Wix's 8.
Google's reports, straight from the test
Reports for four of the pages. The big number is the score; Largest Contentful Paint is when the main content appears.

Why not faster? The pages are light (0.3 to 1.1 MB), but the photos are plain JPEGs, often bigger than shown, and the text waits for web fonts.
Lovable SEO: Will Google Find Your Site?
SEO basics
3/5Average
A builder can't make you rank, but it should give Google a clean site and let you fix what it gets wrong.
How I checked
I read the code of all 15 live pages, the way Google does. Lovable has no SEO settings screen, so for anything missing I asked the AI and checked the live site.

My take
Lovable's AI writes the content side well: titles, descriptions, headings and alt text are all done. The technical side is missing until you ask: no sitemap, canonical tags or schema. Ask for them before launch; it takes one message.

Yes
Live in 4 minutes 39 seconds, two DNS records.
Get contact-form messages by email
Yes
After setting up a sending domain (about 8 minutes), the email arrived in about 15 seconds.
Add a blog
Yes
Built by one message in 48 seconds. Posts are edited by asking the AI, not in an editor.
AI help writing a blog post
Yes
A 300-word post using only facts from the site.
Email marketing
Partly
A sign-up box only; sending newsletters needs Klaviyo or Mailchimp.
Bookings
Partly
A booking form that saves and emails requests; no calendar or time slots.
Products with sizes or colours
Yes
Prices change with the size.
A real test order through checkout
Yes
A $107 order paid with Stripe's test card; the totals matched the cart.
Sales tax settings
No
Not in test mode: Stripe needs a business address first, which you add when you go live.
Shipping settings
Yes
$8 flat, free over $100, from my brief.
Selling downloads
Yes
Built by one message in about 22 minutes; the download appears after payment. The link itself works for anyone who has it.
Visitor stats
Yes
Built in: visits, sources, pages, countries and devices.
9 of 12 work. Everything you get is built by the AI, so it fits your site, but you set up each piece yourself, one message at a time.
A real test order
Once payments were switched on, I asked for a Stripe checkout and a $12 PDF guide. The checkout was live about 3 minutes later; the guide took 22 minutes, because the AI also wrote the PDF and fixed a bug that would have broken every order's thank-you page.
I ordered a mug, a gift-wrapped bowl and the guide: $99 plus $8 shipping, correctly, since the download doesn't count toward free shipping. After paying with Stripe's test card, the thank-you page offered the PDF straight away.
My test order: $99 of items plus $8 shipping. After paying: the PDF is ready to download.
Two catches: sales tax can't be switched on until you go live, and the download link isn't locked, so a buyer could share it. The AI offered to protect it.
The two DNS records Lovable asked for to connect my test domain.
The first blog post Lovable's AI wrote, live on the photographer site.
Can You Take Your Site With You?
Taking your site with you
5/5Excellent
What if you want to leave Lovable? I downloaded the code, ran it on my own computer and tried the data export.
If you leave Lovable, can you take it with you?
The website itself
Yes
"Download codebase" gives the full source code. Mine built in 10 seconds and ran on plain Node.js, identical to the live site.
Form messages and other data
Yes
Each database table exports to a spreadsheet (CSV).
Blog posts and products
Yes
They're part of the code, so they come with it.
Two-way sync with GitHub
Yes
Also GitLab and Bitbucket.
Your domain
Yes
A domain you own stays yours; remove two DNS records to leave.
The exported café running on my own computer, off Lovable.
In short: you can leave with everything. It's a real web app, so it needs a host that runs Node.js, and forms still use Lovable's database until you move it.
Lovable's pricing page says plainly: "You own your code."
Lovable Help and Support
Help and support
5/5Excellent
I asked Lovable the same three questions I ask every builder.
My 3 questions: was the answer right?
"I bought a domain elsewhere. How do I connect it?"
Yes
Right, step by step.
"My contact-form messages aren't arriving. Why?"
Yes
Right: it pointed to the email sending domain I later set up.
"How do I change my card and switch to yearly billing?"
Yes
Right.
The AI: right answers in about 30 seconds
Lovable's docs assistant asked me to solve a CAPTCHA, which I don't do. So I asked the AI inside the editor, in Chat mode, which uses no credits. It answered in 23 to 33 seconds:
Question 1: connecting a domain.Question 2: missing form messages.Question 3: card and yearly billing.
A real person
Paid plans can email support or use the support form, and there's a Discord community. I didn't time a human reply in this test.
Correct, fast answers inside the product: very good support.
Final verdict: is the Lovable AI website builder worth it?
4.1
out of 5
The AI builder that gets your facts right. Just be ready to do everything by chat.
Lovable got all 60 of my facts right, built each site in about 4 minutes and did every edit. You own the code. But each change waits on the AI and uses credits, and shop extras take setup.
Choose Lovable if
You want an accurate site, fast
You're happy to make changes by chat
You want to own and move your code
Skip it if
You want to drag things into place
You need a ready-made shop with email marketing
You'll edit a lot and don't want to count credits
Best for: People who want an accurate site fast and are happy to make every change by chat.
I added 0.2 because the design faults are small menu links and pale labels on otherwise clean pages, the same reason I gave Wix. The credits and setup work are already counted in the pricing and features grades.
The whole test in 9 minutes: three sites built from my briefs, the 60 facts, 12 edits by chat, a domain, a blog, a Stripe test order with a paid PDF, support, speed, SEO, my uptime monitors and the prices. Captions and the full transcript are one click away.

Hey, I'm Miles, and this is RankDude. I test AI tools myself, hands on, and I publish everything I measure, so you can decide before you pay for anything. Today it's Lovable. Lovable builds a whole website, or even a web app, from a chat with its AI. There's no drag and drop editor at all. You just ask, and the AI writes the site for you. The short version? Its AI got every single fact I gave it right, and you own the code. The catch is that everything goes through the chat, and every change costs credits.
So first, what is Lovable? It's an AI builder for websites and web apps. You describe what you want in a chat, and its AI writes the site's code, hosts it, and keeps changing it as you ask. There are no templates and no editor to drag things around in. After the first build, every change is just another message, like move the hours under the photo, or add an events page. Behind the scenes, something called Lovable Cloud adds a database, emails and payments when you ask for them. The free plan puts your site on a lovable dot app address, and the Pro plan adds your own domain.
Now, before we get into it, let me show you how I measured all this, because I didn't take Lovable's word for anything. Everything you'll see comes from my own tests and my own tools. I used a paid Lovable Pro plan and built three real websites with it. My shop runs on its own address, and the café and the photographer are on Lovable's free addresses. Every website builder I review gets the exact same three briefs, with twenty facts each, like prices, opening hours and an address. That's sixty facts, and after Lovable built each site, I checked every single one by hand. And I built my own tools for the rest. The first one is an uptime monitor. It opens each of my three Lovable sites every five minutes, day and night, for thirty days, and records whether it answered and how fast. Every site gets its own monitor. Each day is a bar, and underneath you can see every single check from that day. There's no estimating here, every bar is a real check. The second tool reads Lovable's prices from its pricing page every day, from the United States, so if a price changes, you'll see it here. Then there's my design and SEO checker, which reads the actual code of every page on my sites, Google's own speed test, run eighteen times, and the same list of jobs for every builder, like twelve edits, twelve business features, and three questions for support. Nothing here is estimated, copied from Lovable, or taken from another review, and Lovable never saw any of it before it went live. And here's how I rate. Every test gets a grade from one to five, on the same scale for every builder. I average them, and I can move the result by up to one point for things the numbers miss, but I always say why. Okay, let's build some websites.
So I pasted my first brief into Lovable's chat, and it got going straight away. For the shop, it asked me just one question, whether I wanted to set up a Shopify store. I skipped it, and you can watch the site appear in the preview as the AI writes it. At the end, it told me plainly what it had done and what it hadn't, like the fact that people couldn't pay online yet, and that it had made the product photos itself. Publishing is one click. The café was live in about three and a half minutes, and the shop and the photographer in about four. No failed attempts.
And here's what really impressed me. Out of the sixty facts I gave it, Lovable got all sixty right. Every price, every address, every phone number and opening hour. It didn't make anything up, either. No fake customer reviews, no extra products, no invented addresses. The only thing it created itself was the photos, and it told me to swap in real ones. You should still read your site before launch, but here you're checking, not rewriting.
The designs look polished, and each one fits its business. A calm stoneware shop, a warm café, and a golden hour wedding photographer. I checked all fifteen pages on a phone, a tablet and a computer. Nothing slid off the side of the screen, there were no placeholders, and every photo loaded. There are some rough edges, though. The menu links are small and fiddly to tap on every page, and some small, pale labels are hard to read, on every page of the photographer site. Both are one message to fix, and on a paid plan you can also hide the edit with Lovable badge.
Now, editing. Lovable has no drag and drop, so I gave it the same twelve editing jobs I give every builder, each one as a chat message, and timed them. Every single one worked, from moving a section to changing the fonts everywhere. Most took between half a minute and two minutes, and the AI checked its own work every time. You can even change how the site looks on phones only. I asked for a smaller, centred headline on phones, and the desktop version stayed exactly as it was. The trade off is waiting and credits. A tweak you'd drag into place in a second takes a message and a minute or two here.
Next, I wanted to see if you could actually run a business on it, so I tried twelve things a small business needs. I connected my own domain, and it was live with a secure connection in four minutes and thirty nine seconds. The AI built a blog and wrote the first post in forty eight seconds, using only facts from my site. Form messages reach your inbox too, once you set up a sending domain, which took me about eight minutes. Then I asked it for online payments. A few minutes later, my shop had a real Stripe checkout in test mode, and I placed a test order. The cart added up exactly right, including shipping and gift wrapping. I also asked for a downloadable PDF guide. The AI wrote the guide itself, and after paying, the download was waiting on the thank you page. One catch, the download link isn't locked, so a buyer could share it. Nine of the twelve worked. Email newsletters need an outside service, bookings are a simple form, and sales tax only switches on once you go live.
I also asked Lovable's support the same three questions I ask every builder. Its help centre assistant wanted me to solve a CAPTCHA, so I asked the AI inside the editor instead. In chat mode, that doesn't use any credits. It answered all three correctly, in about half a minute each. On paid plans you can also email support or use the support form, and there's a Discord community.
Now page speed. I ran Google's speed test on six pages, three times each, as if on a phone. The pages scored between seventy six and eighty five out of a hundred. That's good, not quite fast. The main part of each page showed up after about three and a half seconds. Google wants two and a half, but that's still less than half of what I measured on Wix. The pages are light, and the photos could be smaller.
My uptime monitor is checking all three Lovable sites every five minutes, and so far, every single check has been answered. The test runs until the twenty first of November, and you can follow every check live on the uptime page.
For Google, I checked twelve SEO basics in the actual code of my sites. Lovable has no SEO settings screen, but its AI handles the writing well. Every page got its own title and description, one main heading, and every photo has a description. What's missing is the technical side. There's no sitemap, no canonical tags and no structured data until you ask for them. When I asked for a redirect, it was live in about three minutes. So ask for the rest before you launch.
And if you ever want to leave, you can take everything. I downloaded the whole site's code, built it on my own computer, and it ran exactly like the live site, off Lovable. Your data exports to a spreadsheet, and it syncs with GitHub. Lovable's pricing page says it plainly. You own your code.
So what does it cost? To use your own domain without the badge, you need Pro. That's twenty one dollars a month paid yearly, about two hundred fifty dollars a year, or twenty five dollars month to month. But the real question is credits. Pro gives you a hundred a month, and every build and edit uses some. My fourteen café messages used about twelve credits, so a site you change now and then is fine, but if you tinker every day, you'll need more. My price tracker checks Lovable's prices every day.
So, would I use Lovable? If you want an accurate site fast, and you're happy to make every change by chat, yes. It got all my facts right, built each site in about four minutes, and the code is yours to take anywhere. If you'd rather drag things into place, or you want a ready made shop with email marketing built in, you'll find it harder work. Overall, I gave Lovable four point one out of five. Every test, every check and every screenshot is in my full Lovable review, and the links are in the description. Thanks for watching, and I'll see you in the next one.

Frequently asked questions
Is Lovable free?
Yes, to start. You can build and publish on a free lovable.app address with a small daily allowance of credits. Your own domain and removing the badge need Pro, from $21 a month billed yearly ($252 a year).
Can I trust the text Lovable's AI writes?
In my test, yes. It got all 60 facts from my briefs right and made nothing up. Still read every page before launch.
Can I move my Lovable site to another host?
Yes. Download the code or sync it to GitHub, and it runs on any host that runs Node.js. I built and ran mine on my own computer.
How fast does Lovable connect a custom domain?
About 5 minutes. Mine was live with HTTPS in 4 minutes 39 seconds after adding two DNS records.
Is Lovable good for SEO?
Partly. The AI wrote titles, descriptions, headings and alt text, but there was no sitemap, canonical tags or schema until I asked, and 9 of my 12 SEO basics were met. Ask for them before launch; it takes one message.
What score did Lovable get?
4.1 out of 5: 3.9 from my tests, plus 0.2. The AI got all 60 facts right and the code is yours, but there's no drag-and-drop, so every edit waits 1 to 2 minutes on the AI and uses credits.
Disclosure. I tested on a Lovable plan RankDude paid for at the public price. Lovable didn’t see this review first and had no say in my rating. How RankDude makes money is on the disclosure page.
