One chatbot grew more than all AI automation tools did

AI automation tools hit a record in October 2026. Take ChatGPT away, and the rest went backwards.

RankDude data shows AI automation tool sites hit a record 1.47 billion visits from Google in October. But ChatGPT alone added about 700 million in a year, more than the whole category's 650 million. So without it, the rest fell 8.2%, and some crashed hard.

The short version

  • ChatGPT: added about 700 million visits in a year.
  • 650 million: what the whole category added.
  • -8.2%: everyone else, without ChatGPT.
  • -95%: Writesonic, the hardest single crash.

A record month

In October, AI automation tool sites got about 1.47 billion visits from Google.

These are estimates. But the trend is very clear.

A year ago, the total was about 822 million. That's up 79.1%.

In September, it was about 1.45 billion. So October edged up another 1.5%.

The full breakdown is on my AI automation tools statistics page.

So where did all those visits go?

One corner ate it

AI content generators got about 1.43 billion visits in October.

That's nearly all of the 1.47 billion total. They grew 84.6% in a year.

AI RPA tools grew even faster, up 101.5%, to about 28.5 million.

Those are the only two parts that grew. And one name sits on top of it all.

The giant inside

ChatGPT got about 919 million visits from Google in October.

That's 62.4% of the whole category, from one site.

A year ago, it had about 219 million. That's up 319.9%.

It added about 700 million visits in a year. The whole category added about 650 million.

So ChatGPT alone added more than the category did. Without it, the rest fell 8.2%.

Claude grew fast too, up 319.1%, to about 28.7 million.

But not every giant is climbing.

The numbers

1.47B

The quiet slide

Adobe slipped from about 299 million to about 251 million in a year.

Canva dipped from about 230 million to about 221 million.

AI workflow automation fell 58.7% in a year, to about 9.5 million.

AI SEO tools fell 53.6%. AI sales automation fell 45.7%.

AI test automation tools fell 41.9%. AI marketing automation fell 38%.

AI document processing tools fell the least, down 24.2%.

Some single sites crashed harder. Writesonic dropped 95%, from about 510,000 to about 25,700.

Clearscope fell 94.9%, to about 1,800. That's wild.

So is any small tool winning?

The little climbers

Yes. Albato jumped from about 6,700 to about 122,000 visits in a year.

That's up 1,724.8%. Most of it came in October, up from about 25,000.

Klippa grew 804.6% in a year.

But it slid in October, from about 668,000 to about 363,000.

My guess? Small tools swing fast when Google shuffles its results.

“Record month? Sure. But one chatbot is doing most of the lifting.”

How I measured this

I added up estimated visits from Google for every site in the AI automation tools sub categories.

Each site counts once, and one-off spikes were smoothed.

My methodology and data source pages explain the rest.
