rocket.new Review: AI App Builder, Pricing & My Test Results
By Miles Foster, Owner and tester, RankDude. Tested , published .

My rating
A fast, free builder with an honest agent, but the app it made keeps data in one browser and lets anyone become the admin.
People who want a quick prototype to show an idea and will add a real database and pay for the code.
Based on 6 graded tests and my verdict. How I rate

I gave rocket.new the same brief every app builder gets: a booking app for a made-up Pilates studio. I tested it on the free plan, which costs nothing and holds 20 credits. I pasted the brief word for word, sent one follow-up prompt, ran 24 checks on the live app, attacked it twice and measured it on a phone. The two prompts used all 20 credits, and the code download asked for a paid plan, from $25 a month. rocket.new is always written in full here.
Every measurement is in the rocket.new test results.
What I paid for, and what I built on rocket.new
I built one app, from one brief, on the free plan. It is as rocket.new made it, from the brief and one follow-up prompt. It sits on rocket.new's own free address under builtwithrocket.new:

What Is rocket.new?
rocket.new is an AI builder for web apps, mobile apps and landing pages. You describe what you want in a chat, and its agent writes a Next.js project, shows a live preview and can launch it on a web address. It also has a research mode, Solve, and a mode that tracks competitors.
You pay in credits. I tested the free plan, which holds 20 credits that never expire. The paid plans are $25, $50 and $250 a month, a platform fee with credits sold on top.
How I Tested rocket.new
Every number here comes from my own tests and my own monitors. I used the free plan only: no card, no paid credits, no trial. Every app builder gets the same brief, checks, changes and attacks. Where the free plan stopped a test, I say so and leave that test out.

rocket.new Pricing
rocket.new has a free plan, then $25 Pro for 100 credits a month, $50 for the plan called Rocket with 250, and $250 for Booster with 1,500. Prices read on 27 October 2026, monthly view. These are platform fees: more credits can be bought on top.

rocket.new Cost: What My Test App Really Cost
Here is the number you will ask about first. In total I paid $0. The free plan gave me 20 credits, and they were gone after two prompts: about 7 for the first draft and about 13 for the second. At that point rocket.new said I had exhausted my credits and asked me to upgrade. I did not click it. If you want to keep building, you pay for a plan or buy more credits.
What my app cost
| What was paid for | Cost |
|---|---|
| Free plan, no card | $0 |
| Credits used, of 20 | 20 |
| Total paid for the test | $0 |
I did not measure what one change costs, so I cannot tell you how far 100 credits on the $25 plan would go. I also did not test what 1,000 bookings a month would cost.
rocket.new Build Speed: One Brief to a Built App
rocket.new built the first draft in about 7 minutes from the brief, with no questions asked. It was a front end with made-up data, and it said so: sign-up, log-in, the instructor and admin screens, the CSV, saved inquiries and the emails were not built. A second prompt from me, asking for those parts, took about 8 minutes, and the app was live on rocket.new's free address about 20 minutes after the brief.
The agent added a made-up member, Priya Raman, with credits and bookings already in place, so the first screen looked busy. It is in the checks below.
rocket.new Accuracy: Did It Build What I Asked?
Mostly: 22 of 24 checks I could run passed. Booking, My bookings, cancelling with the credit coming back, the full-class rule, the instructor's screen and the admin's class tools all worked, and the CSV had eleven columns.
Two failed. The password reset sends no email and shows the link on the screen instead. And the app added things the brief did not give: a description and a level for every class, and a made-up member. The six checks about Stripe and the emails were not run, so you should test them on your own keys.
rocket.new Editing: The Twelve Changes
I could run none of the twelve changes. My first one, the colour scheme, was answered with a message that the credit limit was exhausted and a request to upgrade. This test is not graded.
Twelve changes, one prompt each
| What happened | Changes |
|---|---|
| Worked first time | 0 |
| Not run, credits gone | 12 |
| Credits left on the plan | 0 |
The free plan also limits a request to 3 new screens, as the agent told me, so a bigger app needs more prompts, and more credits.
rocket.new Publishing and Page Speed
Launch worked on the free plan. I picked the Rocket hosted domain and the app was live on a builtwithrocket.new address about a minute later, with no card. The Production tab asks for a custom domain of your own, or to buy one, and I used neither. The address is open to anyone, and a small Built with rocket.new badge sits in the corner of every page I opened.

| Time to main content | About 3 s |
| Weight of the page | 0.36 MB |

- Score where a 5 starts90
The layout was fine at 360, 768 and 1440 pixels, with no sideways scroll. A second Update, after the credits were gone, failed with a compile error about a font, and rocket.new then emailed that it had found a publishing issue. The first live version kept serving. I did not connect a domain or use a real phone.
Every day I also run the rocket.new speed test and the rocket.new security checks.
Is My rocket.new App Still Online?
A review tells you what happened on one day. This tells you what happens every day after. My own monitor opens the app every five minutes for 30 days, from 27 October to 26 November 2026, and records whether it answered and how fast.
The app sits on rocket.new's free builtwithrocket.new address. The host puts a security check in front of plain requests from scripts, so the monitor may read the address as down even while it opens in a browser. If the record shows that, it is a finding about the address, and I will say so.
You can open the record and see every check.
Every check so far is on the rocket.new uptime record.
Is rocket.new Secure? Logins and Private Data
Both of my attacks succeeded, because the roles are only cosmetic. The sign-up form lets any visitor pick Member, Instructor or Admin, and an account made as Admin landed on the admin screen. A member who opened the admin address was stopped, but changed one stored value, reloaded, and had the admin screen too.
The password reset is open too: it shows the reset link on the screen to anyone who asks for any email address. The agent had warned me that sign-up lets anyone pick the instructor or admin role so every view can be tried, and that a live studio would restrict that. Add that restriction before you use an app like this.
Does rocket.new Keep Your Data Safe?
Not for more than one person: two of the four data checks I could run passed. Records survived reloads and the admin's CSV downloaded with the right columns. But the agent says the app has no shared server. A second clean browser showed none of the eight members I had made and none of the messages I had sent.
The admin cannot filter the bookings list. The redeploy and design-change checks could not be run, because the second Update failed and the credits were gone. The agent's suggested next step is a Supabase connector, which I did not set up.
Payments and Emails in rocket.new
I did not run payments or emails, so this test is not graded. The app's pass purchase says Payment is simulated and Stripe is not connected, and the booking emails go to an outbox inside the app, not to a real inbox.
The agent suggested Stripe and Resend connectors as next steps. Both need your own accounts and keys, so I left them alone.
Can You Take Your App Out of rocket.new?
I could not download the code on the free plan, so this test is not graded. The download button opens a window that says Own your code and asks you to upgrade.
You can read every file in the code view: it is a Next.js 15 and React 19 project with Tailwind. I did not run it anywhere else or read the terms.
rocket.new Support and How to Cancel
I emailed support three questions on 27 October 2026: how to stop people signing up as admin, how to export data and code, and how to cancel. No reply had come when this review was written, so support is not graded.
The only message I got was an automatic notice about the failed Update, which asked me to reply if I wanted it investigated. The free plan has nothing to cancel: Settings, then Subscription, shows the plan, the credits and an Upgrade button. The pricing page says you can change plans or cancel from your account settings.
rocket.new Reviews: What Other Users Say
rocket.new has a Trustpilot TrustScore of 4.4 from 176 reviews, read on 28 October 2026. The three complaints people repeat, in Trustpilot's own summary, are high token use, a steep learning curve and updates that break things. My test matches the first: 20 credits lasted two prompts.
Final verdict: is rocket.new worth it?
If this were my studio, I would use rocket.new to get a good-looking prototype in minutes, and I would not run the studio on the app it made. It looks right and works for one person in one browser. The admin role is open to anyone, and no booking is shared between devices.
It suits people who want a fast, free demo to show an idea, and who are ready to add a real database and pay from $25 a month for credits and the code. It suits you less if you want the agent to deliver a working booking system on the free plan. I could not try payments without your own keys, I could not run the twelve changes on 20 credits, and support has not answered.
The six graded tests average 3.2 out of 5, and I rate rocket.new 2.8. Build speed is the highest, because the app was live in about 20 minutes. Logins and the database are the lowest, because the roles are cosmetic and the records stay in one browser. This is a free-plan rating: on a paid plan the changes, the code and a real database could be tested.
See the rocket.new test results and how I rate.
Best for: People who want a fast, free-looking prototype of an app to show an idea, and who are ready to add a real database and pay from $25 a month for more credits and the code.
My rating: 2.8/5, from a test score of 3.2/5. The ten grades say where it is strong and where it is not.

Hey, I'm Miles, and this is RankDude, where I test AI tools hands on and publish every number, so you can decide before you pay. Today it's rocket dot new, an AI builder for web apps. I used the free plan only, and paid nothing, and gave it the same brief every builder gets: a Pilates booking app called Fitting Room. The short version is that rocket dot new built a good-looking app and had it live in about twenty minutes, and twenty-two of the twenty-four checks I could run passed. But the app keeps every record in one browser, and anyone can sign up as the admin. Six tests could be graded. My rating is two point eight out of five.
So, what is rocket dot new? You describe what you want in a chat. An agent writes a Next dot js project, shows a live preview, and can launch it on a web address. It also has a research mode and a mode that tracks your competitors. You pay in credits. The free plan holds twenty credits that never expire. The paid plans are twenty five, fifty and two hundred and fifty dollars a month, and more credits are sold on top.
Every builder gets the same brief, word for word. Rocket dot new asked no questions. About seven minutes later the first draft was ready, and it was honest. The data was made up, and it said sign-up, the admin screens, the C S V and the emails were not built. So I sent a second prompt asking for those parts. About eight minutes later, they were there, and the app was live on a free address. That's about twenty minutes from the brief, with two prompts. It scores a five.
Then I ran the checks. Twenty-two of twenty-four passed. A member can book, cancel and get the credit back. A full class refuses another booking. The instructor sees only their own classes, and the admin can add, edit and delete classes and download a C S V. Two failed. The password reset sends no email, and the app invented a description and a level for every class, and a member I never asked for. That scores a four.
For security I attacked the app twice. A member who typed the admin address was stopped. But the same member changed one stored value in the browser, reloaded, and had the whole admin screen. And anyone can pick the admin role when they sign up. The password reset even shows its link on the screen. The agent had warned me about the role, but the roles are only cosmetic. That scores a two.
The data is where it falls down. The agent told me there is no shared server. So I opened a second, clean browser and logged in as the admin. It saw none of the eight members I had made, and none of the messages I had sent. Records stay in one browser. For a studio with more than one person, that doesn't work. The admin also can't filter the bookings. Two of the four checks I could run passed, so that scores a two.
The twelve changes are where the free plan stopped me. I asked for the first one, a colour change. Rocket dot new said I had exhausted my credits, and asked me to upgrade. Twenty credits lasted two prompts. This test is not graded.
Publishing worked on the free plan, with no card. The app was live on a rocket dot new address in about a minute. Google scored it ninety-one out of one hundred on a phone, and the page weighs a third of a megabyte. The production tab asks for a custom domain, and I didn't connect one. A second update later failed with a compile error. This scores a three.
Some tests are not graded. Payments and emails need your own keys. The pass page says payment is simulated, and the emails go to an outbox inside the app. And the code export? The download button opens a window that says, own your code, with a button to upgrade. You can read every file in the code view, but not download them.
I emailed three questions to rocket dot new support: how to stop people signing up as admin, how to export data and code, and how to cancel. No person had answered when I made this video, so support is not graded. The free plan has nothing to cancel.
What did it cost? Nothing. The free plan gave me twenty credits, about seven for the first draft and about thirteen for the second. Then they were gone. I never entered a card.
Pricing. There's a free plan. Then twenty five dollars a month buys a hundred credits, fifty dollars buys two hundred and fifty, and two hundred and fifty dollars buys fifteen hundred. These are platform fees, and you can buy more credits on top. Pricing scores a three. The prices are clear, but the free credits ended after two prompts, and I can't say what the twelve changes would cost.
So, my verdict. If this were my studio, I would use rocket dot new to get a good-looking prototype in minutes, and I would not run my studio on the app it made. It suits people who want a fast demo and will add a real database. The six graded tests average three point two out of five. I rate it two point eight, because the two best grades were measured in one browser, and the app keeps every record there. Every measurement is in the rocket dot new test results, linked below.

Frequently asked questions
How much does rocket.new cost, and is there a free plan?
Yes. There is a free plan. It cost me nothing and gave me 20 credits that never expire, which lasted two prompts. Pro is $25 a month for 100 credits, Rocket is $50 for 250 and Booster is $250 for 1,500, and more credits can be bought.
Is rocket.new legit and safe?
Not as built. It built a working app and said what was a mock. But anyone could sign up as the admin, and the records stay in one browser. Its Trustpilot score is 4.4 from 176 reviews.
Who owns the app I build on rocket.new?
I did not read the full terms, so I cannot say. The code view shows every file of the project, but downloading it needs a paid plan.
Can I download my rocket.new code?
Paid plans only. The download button opened a window asking me to upgrade. I could read the files in the code view, and I did not test an export on a paid plan.
How do I cancel rocket.new?
In settings, according to the pricing page. The free plan has nothing to cancel, and Settings, then Subscription, only offered Upgrade. I never paid, so I did not test a cancel.
Does rocket.new work on a phone?
Yes. The app had no sideways scroll at 360 pixels, and Google's phone test scored the home page 91 out of 100. It builds mobile apps too, but I tested only the web app.
