Every month I measure Google visits to the 29 AI code generator sites I track, and how often people search for them by name. In October 2026 they got about 251 million visits, 50% more than a year ago and 5% more than in September 2026.

AI code generator market: the key numbers for October 2026

  • The tracked sites got 251,034,270 visits from Google in October 2026, 50% more than a year ago and 5% more than in September 2026. OpenAI Codex, which takes 98.3% of all the visits, accounts for most of the rise (100% of it). Without it, visits would be up 1.6% on a year ago instead of up 49.8%. OpenAI Codex gained more visits in October 2026 (11,499,705) than the whole market did (11,296,420); without it, visits to the other sites fell 4.6% on September 2026.
  • “ai code generator” gets about 3,600 US searches a month. People searched the site names 1,433,040 times in the US in September 2026, 21% less often than in October 2025.
  • No tracked site ranks on Google for “ai code generator”. OpenAI Codex is the most-visited site.
