One site grew more than all AI writing tools combined

ChatGPT's gains outran the whole AI writing tools market in October 2026. The rest, added up, shrank.

RankDude data shows AI writing tools got about 1.56 billion visits from Google in October, up 70.7% in a year. ChatGPT alone gained about 699,908,000 visits. The whole market gained only about 645,063,000. So who has been quietly losing?

The short version

  • ChatGPT: gained more visits than the whole market.
  • -7.9%: the market's yearly change without ChatGPT.
  • 59%: ChatGPT's share of all visits in October.
  • JotMe: up 3774.3%, a tiny site that bucked it.

A boom, on paper

A year ago, these sites got about 912,857,000 visits from Google.

Now they get about 1.56 billion. These are estimates, but the jump is huge.

US visits grew even faster, up 162% in a year.

September was the record, at about 1.61 billion. October dipped 3%.

So who brought in all those new visits?

The giant in the room

ChatGPT got about 918,687,000 visits in October.

A year ago, it got about 218,778,000.

So it gained about 699,908,000 visits. The whole market gained about 645,063,000.

ChatGPT grew more than the market itself. That means everyone else, added up, shrank.

Take ChatGPT out, and the market fell 7.9% in a year. Wild, right?

The numbers

All AI writing toolsin a year
+70.7%

Three suspicious rockets

Three sub categories shot up. AI email writers grew 262.6%.

AI script generators grew 304.7%. AI book writers grew 314.5%.

Each now has between 949,419,000 and 975,571,000 visits.

My guess? ChatGPT is listed in all three. That would explain the match.

But one group grew without leaning on ChatGPT.

The translators fight back

AI translators grew 41.9% in a year.

Papago climbed to about 155,276,000 visits, from about 116,361,000.

But DeepL Write slid from about 327,411,000 to about 218,325,000.

That's about 109,086,000 visits gone (327,411,000 minus 218,325,000).

Yandex Translate sits fourth, with about 84,699,000.

And the old writing helpers? They're having a rough year.

Tough times for helpers

AI writing assistants fell 32.2% in a year.

AI transcription tools dropped 54%. AI detectors slipped 5.6%.

Then there's Pepper. It had about 973,000 visits a year ago.

In October, it had just 205. That's down 100%.

Jetwriter AI fell from about 7,300 visits to zero.

But not every small site sank.

The tiny climbers

JotMe had about 32,000 visits a year ago.

Now it has about 1.25 million. That's up 3774.3%.

MyDetector grew 2029.3%, to about 231,000 visits.

AI humanizers grew 25.1% as a group.

Still, the top five sites hold 90.2% of all visits. The crumbs are small.

You can dig into every figure on the AI writing tools statistics page.

“ChatGPT isn't part of the AI writing market. It basically is the market.”

How I measured this

I added up estimated monthly Google visits for every site in AI writing tools.

Each site counts once, even if it sits in several sub categories.

I compared October 2026 with October 2025, using my methodology.
