Every month I add up the Google visits to the 15 AI receptionist sites I track (DataForSEO estimates) and how often people in the US search for them by name (Google Ads). In September 2026 they got about 456,825 visits. Much of the year’s change is one site, Phonely; without it, visits are up 100% on a year ago.

The total hides very different stories: one site grew 90% in a year while another lost 99.5% of its visits. See who grew and who shrank, the visits month by month and the name searches, plus what I expect for October 2026.

1.Are more people visiting AI receptionist sites than a year ago?

Only because of Phonely. The 15 tracked AI receptionist sites got 456,825 visits from Google search in September 2026. That is 7% fewer visits than in September 2025, or 100% more without Phonely, and 34% fewer visits than in August 2026.

The highest month of the last two years was April 2026, with 1,440,678 visits; September 2026 is 68% below it. In the US, visits were 274,404, about level with a year ago.

Miles explains

Visits are lower than a year ago. Most of the drop since August 2026 is one site: Goodcall went from 646,119 to 405,856 visits. Without it, the other sites grew 21% on the month. Name searches rose (+30%) and Google Trends interest in the term rose (+94%), so the drop looks like a few big sites losing Google rankings, not people losing interest.

Yes, more than before. People in the US searched Google for the names of the counted AI receptionist sites 16,210 times in September 2026, 30% more searches than in October 2025. Someone who searches a site’s name already knows it, so this is the clearest sign of people coming back on purpose.
