Velaya AI Review: Features, Pricing & My Test Results

Velaya AI (velaya.ai) is an adult AI girlfriend site. You chat with one of 65 companions or build your own, ask for photos and videos, and call her.

Each companion has a long backstory and her own voice. There are also 311 roleplay stories that put them in different scenes.

It's explicit: most companions open with sexual lines, and adult photos and videos are allowed.

What I think

The plans are cheap, and so is most of what you do: a message costs 1 token, a photo 10 and a call minute 10. A 5-second video is 70.

The big cost is making your own companion: 1,000 tokens, a whole month of Premium. Tokens never expire. The terms say you pay by card.

There's a lot of control. One limit: only female companions, because male and transgender are locked.

The preview face matched my brief. But the full-body preview came out nude, though I hadn't asked for that.

Creating her cost 1,000 tokens and started 'training, about 30 minutes'. Ninety minutes later she still wasn't in the app, so I couldn't chat with her.

What could be better

A companion that's ready when promised, and a lower price to make one. The details are in the customization test results.

What it offers

Text chat with long, detailed replies. Companions also message you first, so there's often a new chat waiting.

What I found

Replies are slow: about 9 seconds before the first words, then the reply types out. They're long, about 180 words, so a full reply takes about 30 seconds.

Memory is perfect. I told each companion a made-up name and three things about me. After 31 messages, all three remembered everything. Maya: 'Daniel. Nurse. Glasgow. Lamb curry. All four, no hesitation.'

They feel like real characters. Maya talked about her black mare Luna and her mother's cooking, Caroline about board-game league nights, and Evelyn had strong views on cream teas. Evelyn even spotted a question I'd asked before: 'We did this — day one, near enough.'

What it offers

A generator for photos of any companion, and videos made from a photo, 5 to 30 seconds long, with sound.

What I found

The photos are excellent. All 20 matched what I asked for, looked real and came back in about 20 seconds. Best of all, Maya had the same face in every one.

The videos are smooth and do what you ask. Maya waved, smiled and tucked her hair behind her ear, just as I wrote. Clips come with background sound.

One of my three clips had a small jump at the end. A 5-second clip took under a minute; a 10-second one about two minutes.

What it offers

Call any companion from the chat. Calls cost 10 tokens a minute, and you can pick between two voice engines.

What I found

I called Maya, Caroline and Evelyn and asked each the same 15 questions. They started answering in about 5 seconds, and a call takes about 20 seconds to connect.

The voices are the best I've measured: clear, warm and expressive. Listen for yourself:

The answers are long, often half a minute, so calls feel more like listening than chatting.

There are 65 companions, all women aged 18 to 56, each with a long backstory and her own voice. There are also 311 roleplay stories that put them in different scenes.

That's a small library. You can filter by how she is with you, like warm, bold or devoted.

• Companions message you first: new chats appear on the home page.
• Roleplay stories: 311 written scenes, plus quick roleplay on Pro.
• Levels and XP: you earn points as you chat and create.
• No feed: everything happens in chats and the generator.

Velaya AI has some of the best chat I've tested: companions that remember everything and feel like real people, with photos that keep their face.

It's slow to reply and to answer calls, the library is small, and my custom companion took far longer than promised. If you're patient, the quality is worth it.
