Miles explains

4 of 6 in range is honest, not perfect. The biggest miss was May 2026 (-18%), the kind of month when one big site jumps. That’s why the range is wide.

2What is the market doing now?

Visits are down on a year ago (-32%), and the last three months were lower than the three before. Name searches are down (-37% since October 2025). Recent months are getting weaker; the forecast expects October 2026 to be about the same as September 2026.

Miles explains

Big green or red bars are usually one site winning or losing a Google ranking, not the whole market moving. What I watch is the last three months against the three before: -26%.

3Is October usually a big month or a quiet one?

No seasonal pattern is used in this forecast: the five-year Google Trends series for "ai agents for websites" has too many empty months (42 of 60, the last in May 2025) to read a seasonal pattern from.

On the calendar, October brings the start of the fourth quarter and next year's budget planning. Once the Google Trends series for the term can be read month by month, this section scores each month against an average month and tests whether that helps the forecast.

ChatBot.com’s September 2026 figure (142,801) broke from its own series, so its forecast carries that level; the average of its earlier months would have called 165,168. Together the ten come to 445,409, inside the market forecast of 478,688 for every tracked site.

Miles explains

Crisp has the biggest expected rise (+4%). Single sites are much harder to call than the whole market, so read these as direction, not promises.

7What could change the forecast

What could knock October 2026 off course:

  • A big site winning or losing a page-one position for “ai agents for websites”.
  • A Google update.
  • A site going offline.
  • A news story that spikes interest for a week and then fades.

None of these are in the numbers until they happen, which is why the range exists.
