Every month I measure Google visits to the 133 AI writing assistant sites I track, and how often people search for them by name. In October 2026 they got about 264 million visits, 32% fewer than a year ago and 22% fewer than in September 2026.

Below: who grew fastest (one site is up 160% in a year), who sits highest on Google, where the visitors live and what comes next.

The tracked sites got 264,388,384 visits from Google in October 2026, 32% fewer than a year ago and 22% fewer than in September 2026. DeepL Write, which takes 82.6% of all the visits, accounts for most of the fall (87% of it). Without it, visits would be down 26.6% on a year ago instead of down 32.2%. DeepL Write made most of the move in October 2026: it lost 69,510,346 of the market's 75,200,030 visits; without it, visits to the other sites fell 11.0% on September 2026.
“ai writing assistant” gets about 18,100 US searches a month. People searched the site names 4,183,670 times in the US in September 2026, 29% less often than in October 2025.
No tracked site is on Google’s first page for “ai writing assistant”; the highest is Grammarly, at position 14. DeepL Write is the most-visited site.
11.3% of visits came from the US (6.9% a year ago), then Germany, India and Canada. The five most-visited sites took 95.3% of all visits.
