AI study tool statistics, October 2026
Miles FosterOwner and tester, RankDude
Every month I measure 149 AI study tool sites with data from DataForSEO, Google Trends, Tranco and Ahrefs. They are the sites that rank on Google for "ai study tools" plus the most-visited AI study tool sites overall. In October 2026 they got about 180 million visits from Google, 21% more than a year ago.
Below: one short section per statistics page, starting with whether the market is growing. The tools I test are on the AI study tools page.

Market demand
1Is the AI study tool market growing in 2026?
Shrinking, but visits are up 7.2% over the last six months.
Over two years, visits went from 117M in November 2024 to a high of 192M in September 2026, and stand at 180M in October 2026. Much of the year’s change is one site, Symbolab, which is why I also look at the market without it.

Miles explains
I only call a market growing when visits and name searches agree. Here visits are down and name searches are down, so they agree.
Search trends
2How many people search for AI study tools in 2026?
“ai study tools” is searched about 14,800 times a month worldwide, 45% of it in the US.
Google Trends barely registered “ai study tools” until June 2025; interest then climbed to its peak in March 2026. Americans make 45% of the searches but only 26.5% of the visits, because the big sites also draw heavily from India, Canada and United Kingdom.

Google Trends shows direction, not volume. Interest is lower than a year ago, and I only trust that when the visits move the same way.
Monthly analysis
3What changed in the AI study tool market in October 2026?
More visits than a year ago only because of Symbolab, but fewer people searching by name, and the next six months look about flat.
The fastest growers over the year, EduBrain.AI, Loora and Taalhammer, grew fastest, mostly from a smaller base. The losers, led by Socratic, lost most of their search visits (-100%).

Huge percentages like EduBrain.AI’s +663% usually mean one site won a big Google ranking from a small start. I watch whether it holds the next month.
Monthly forecast
4What happens next for AI study tools?
I expect November 2026 to be about the same as October 2026, and the next six months to look up.
The forecast carries the level of recent months forward, not the trend line, because that version missed least when tested on past months.

Symbolab alone has 57% of all visits. That’s a big lead, but one Google update can close it fast.
Download the data
6Can I download the AI study tool data?
Yes. Every number on these pages comes from two CSV files, free to download.
sites.csv has one row per site: its Google US position for “ai study tools”, Tranco rank, Chrome UX tier, visits from Google worldwide and in the US, name searches, Domain Rating and referring domains, with the month each figure covers. market.csv has the monthly totals across the tracked sites: visits worldwide and in the US, name searches and referring domains. Blanks mean the source had no figure, never zero.
