Below: one short section per statistics page, starting with whether the market is growing. The tools I test are on the AI image tools page.

Sub categories

1What makes up AI image tools

AI image tools adds up 19 sub categories, each with statistics of its own. A site listed in more than one is counted once above, so the rows below add up to more than the total. The searches are for each sub category’s own phrase; “ai image tools” itself is on the search trends page.

Market demand

2Is the AI image tools market growing in 2026?

Growing, but visits are down 16% since April 2026.

Over two years, visits went from 757M in November 2024 to a high of 1433M in April 2026, and stand at 1198M in October 2026. Much of the year’s change is one site, Freepik AI, which is why I also look at the market without it.

I only call a market growing when visits and name searches agree. Here visits are up and name searches are up, so they agree.

Monthly analysis

4What changed in the AI image tools market in October 2026?

Fewer visits than a year ago only because of Freepik AI, but more people searching by name, and the next six months look flat.

The fastest growers over the year, Ideal House, Playground and WeShop AI, each grew several times over, usually from a small base. The losers, led by Magnific, lost most of their search visits (-100%).

Miles explains

Huge percentages like Ideal House’s +1684% usually mean one site won a big Google ranking from a small start. I watch whether it holds the next month.

Monthly forecast

5What happens next for AI image tools?

I expect November 2026 to be about the same as October 2026, and the next six months to look flat.

The forecast carries the level of recent months forward, not the trend line, because that version missed least when tested on past months. November is usually a quieter month than average for searches, but the calendar did not improve the forecast, so it is left out.

Miles explains

Adobe Express alone has 21% of all visits. That’s a big lead, but one Google update can close it fast.

7Can I download the AI image tools data?

Yes. Every number on these pages comes from two CSV files, free to download.

sites.csv has one row per site: its Google US position for “ai image tools”, Tranco rank, Chrome UX tier, visits from Google worldwide and in the US, name searches, Domain Rating and referring domains, with the month each figure covers. market.csv has the monthly totals across the tracked sites: visits worldwide and in the US, name searches and referring domains. Blanks mean the source had no figure, never zero.

8AI image tools statistics: questions people ask

How many people use AI image tools?

The 414 AI image tools sites RankDude measures got about 1.2 billion visits from Google in October 2026. That counts visits from Google search only, not every visit, so the real total is higher.

Is the AI image tools market growing?

Mixed. Visits are down 3.6% on a year ago, but only because of Freepik AI; without it they are up 8.7%. They have fallen 16% since April 2026. Searches for the sites by name are 6% higher than in October 2025. The forecast for November 2026 is about 1.2 billion visits.

Which AI image tool is the most popular?

By visits from Google, Adobe Express is the most visited, with about 251 million in October 2026, followed by OpenAI and Canva. This measures traffic, not quality.

How many people search for "ai image tools"?

About 3,600 searches a month worldwide, about 880 of them in the US, on a 12-month average from Google Ads data.

Where do AI image tools users come from?

10.5% of visits come from the United States. Outside the US the largest markets are India, Brazil and Canada.

Where do these AI image tools statistics come from?

Traffic, rankings and search volume come from DataForSEO, popularity from Tranco and the Chrome UX Report, link strength from Ahrefs and search interest from Google Trends via DataForSEO. The figures are pulled once a month, after the month has closed, and each edition is kept as published, apart from any correction, which is dated on the page.
