Hosting, Domain & Selling
n/aNot Tested- Method
- Each business point was tried on the live sites as far as the plan and the checks allowed.
- Business points tried
- 4 of 12
- Form messages sent
- 0 of 2 tries
- Custom domain
- Launch hosting only
- Remark
- Not graded: the form was stopped by a human check, and most other points need Launch hosting or a shop.
Raw notes
Each business point was tried on the live sites as far as the plan and the checks allowed. At each wall I recorded its words.
A custom domain needs Launch hosting: the Domains screen shows 'Upgrade' and 'Buy new domain', and the Pro plan does not change that. The sites show the 'Built in Relume' badge, and each is on 'Free hosting plan' with 1,500 visitors and 20 form submissions a month.
The contact form did not send. It answered 'Something went wrong while sending your message. Please try again.' with a Cloudflare 'Verify you are human' box, which I did not tick. The Forms screen lists each form with its submission count: both cafe forms show 0.
Built-in analytics exists (a 7-day window on this plan, 0 visits because the sites are hidden). Cookie consent is a switch, off by default; before any consent my browser held one cookie, from Cloudflare. A second language is one extra page: the AI made /contacto, but the page still says it is English, there is no switcher and no hreflang tag (1 of 4).
A shop with checkout, a test order, a blog, bookings and a mailbox were not tried: Relume Publish has no checkout, and the shop site takes orders by email.
- No domain was connected, no order was placed and no mailbox was made. I did not buy Launch hosting.
Help & Support
n/aNot Tested- Method
- I used Relume's support chat from the Get Support page and sent the three standard questions one after the other.
- Questions sent
- 3 of 3
- Answers when I stopped
- 0
- Reply time promised
- 24 hours or less
- Remark
- Not graded: nothing was answered while I watched, so there is no answer to time or check.
Raw notes
I used Relume's support chat from the Get Support page and sent the three standard questions one after the other. No support email address is published, so I did not guess one.
The Submit Request button opens a chat with 'Fin AI'. It asked for a name, an email, a topic (Technical question, Account and billing, Other) and a product, then said 'We usually reply within 24 hours. Real people handle our support'. It gave no answer of its own.
I sent all three questions in that chat: connecting a domain bought elsewhere, form messages not arriving, and changing the card and switching to yearly billing. No answer had arrived when I stopped watching, so the answers are not checked and support is not graded.
- Five help-centre searches (WB-H1) were not run. The chat can still answer after this review was written.
Prompt to Live Site
3/5Tested- Method
- Each of the three fixed briefs (cafe, photographer, shop) was pasted word for word into Relume's Brief box.
- Cafe, brief to live
- About 22 min
- Photographer, brief to live
- 38 min
- Shop, brief to live
- 16 min
- Median of three
- 22 min
- AI meter, photographer / shop
- 47% / 30%
- Remark
- A median of 22 minutes is in the 20-to-39 band: 3/5. The first drafts are fast, but most pages need a request from me.
Raw notes
Each of the three fixed briefs (cafe, photographer, shop) was pasted word for word into Relume's Brief box. The clock ran from pressing send to every page of the brief answering at a public address, my own follow-up requests included. The median of the three is the grade.
Cafe: first finished Home page after 3 min 26 s, live with five pages after about 22 minutes. Photographer: eight pages, live after 38 minutes. Shop: first draft after about 3 minutes, five pages live after 16 minutes. The median is 22 minutes.
The AI builds the Home page first and leaves the other pages empty until I ask. It offered buttons such as 'Build the Book page'. The photographer time includes about six minutes I lost clicking the wrong Publish button.
The AI usage meter (WB-A6) went up by 47% for the photographer site and 30% for the shop on the Pro plan, which resets on 28 November 2026. After all my edits it read 95%, so the plan covers about two sites like these a month.
A short vague brief of one sentence about a cafe in Portland was not run: the meter was nearly empty.
- Times come from my session log; the live moment was read from the address answering, so it can be off by about 30 seconds. The vague-brief check was not run.
Design & Mobile Layout
2/5Tested- Method
- Every page of the three first drafts was loaded at 360, 768 and 1440 pixels wide on the live address, before I edited anything.
- Design faults, three sites
- 17
- Cafe / photographer / shop
- 7 / 3 / 7
- Pages with a critical accessibility problem (phone)
- 15 of 18
- Sideways scrolling
- None
- Remark
- 17 faults is in the 11-to-20 band: 2/5. The pages look polished; the faults are the badge, small buttons, pale text and the missing logo.
Raw notes
Every page of the three first drafts was loaded at 360, 768 and 1440 pixels wide on the live address, before I edited anything. The checker counted sideways scrolling, tap targets under 24 pixels, text under WCAG AA contrast, placeholders, broken images and overlapping text, once per type per page. I also ran axe-core on every page at 1440 and 390 pixels and walked the cafe pages with the Tab key. Total faults over the three sites decide the grade.
17 faults on 18 pages: cafe 7 (5 pages), photographer 3 (8 pages), shop 7 (5 pages). They are small tap targets, overlapping text (mostly the corner badge) and pale text on the shop. No sideways scrolling and no broken image.
All three sites show a grey script 'Logo' in the menu bar, although Relume's health check says no placeholder is left. The photographs are AI-made and the AI said so.
Accessibility (axe-core): the cafe and the photographer have a critical problem on every page at phone width (aria-allowed-attr), and the photographer's booking form has a field with no label and a select with no name. The shop has pale text (color-contrast) on all pages at both widths and the same critical problem on phones. Every page has the 'region' notice.
- The checker flags floating items such as the badge, which Launch hosting removes. I did not look at every flagged overlap one by one. The Tab-key walk was done on the cafe only, and axe-core ran on five pages of the photographer and the shop.
Brief & Copy Accuracy
3/5Tested- Method
- The checker loaded every page of each first draft and searched the visible text for the facts of its brief: 19 for the cafe, 18 matchable for the photographer and 20 for the shop.
- Facts found (cafe / photographer / shop)
- 19/19, 17/18, 20/20
- Facts found, all three
- 56 of 57
- Made-up details
- 5
- Made-up reviews, awards or staff
- 0
- Remark
- 56 of 57 facts is in the 54-to-57 band, but five made-up details put it in the 45-to-53 or 2-to-3-invented band: 3/5.
Raw notes
The checker loaded every page of each first draft and searched the visible text for the facts of its brief: 19 for the cafe, 18 matchable for the photographer and 20 for the shop. I then read every page by hand for anything the brief did not give: reviews, awards, staff, figures, extra social accounts or made-up detail.
Facts found: cafe 19 of 19, photographer 17 of 18, shop 20 of 20. The one missing fact is the photographer's Instagram name, @inescalderphoto: it appears nowhere on the site. Nothing is wrong and no review, award, rating or press mention was added.
The AI still made up small details. Shop: 'Fernhook is a one-person studio' where he 'still does every stage of it himself', 'Theo throws every piece on the wheel' and 'with a pulled handle'. Photographer: 'work from the last few years' and sessions 'usually outdoors'. That is five invented items, none of them a review or an award. The cafe had none.
Where the brief had a gap the AI said so. On the Catering page it did not invent a price, and it named three things it did not know.
- The checker matches words, so a fact stated oddly could pass; the hand read is mine. I counted small wording such as 'Open seven days a week' (true from the hours) as not invented.
Editing Freedom
4/5Tested- Method
- The twelve fixed edits were made on the cafe site, in the editor or with the AI, and each one was checked on the live site after publishing.
- Edits that worked
- 11 of 12
- AI instructions done right
- 4 of 5
- Custom code on live pages
- 2 of 2
- Phone-only change
- Not possible
- Remark
- 11 of 12 edits is in the 10-or-11 band: 4/5.
Raw notes
The twelve fixed edits were made on the cafe site, in the editor or with the AI, and each one was checked on the live site after publishing. Then the five written instructions (WB-A5) were sent to the AI one at a time, word for word, and the live pages were compared before and after.
11 of the 12 edits worked. A section moved (the drag that worked is on the canvas, not in the Layers list), site font, site colours, a new page with a menu link, the footer line, a Phone field in the form, a replaced image with its focal point, a button link, a duplicated section, an embedded block of HTML and an AI rewrite of one section. The AI rewrite also changed a label I did not ask about.
The one that did not work is a change for phones only. In phone view every section says 'Editing happens on desktop. Tablet and mobile are optimised from your desktop design, so there's nothing to change here.'
Of the five written instructions, 4 did what I asked: change the weekend hours on every page, add a Gift Cards page to the menu, translate the Contact page into Spanish, and sort the Menu page cheapest first. The fifth failed: the AI cannot edit the alt text of an image that already exists, and offered to write sentences for me to paste. Two of the four also changed more than I asked: the menu bar gained a 'More' list, and the Menu page was redrawn.
Custom code worked: a script and a style rule added once were on every page I checked (2 of 2). A duplicated section took 2 clicks; setting a button link took 3 clicks and 10 seconds.
- I did not test uploading a file from my computer with Replace: the file picker did not open in my test browser. The gallery, video and slider (WB-D5), free placement (WB-E2) and the phone app (WB-C4) were not run. The AI meter stood at 95% when the five instructions ended.
Page Speed
4/5Tested- Method
- Lighthouse 13.5 with mobile settings ran three times on two pages of each of the three live sites (the Home page and one inner page): 18 runs, with the computer otherwise idle.
- Mobile median, 18 runs
- 80
- Slowest page, mobile
- 71 (shop Home)
- Fastest page, mobile
- 88 (photographer Pricing)
- Largest Contentful Paint, range
- 3.1 to 5.9 s
- Remark
- A median of 80 is in the 75-to-89 band: 4/5.
Raw notes
Lighthouse 13.5 with mobile settings ran three times on two pages of each of the three live sites (the Home page and one inner page): 18 runs, with the computer otherwise idle. The median of the 18 runs is the grade. The cafe also had three desktop runs per page.
The median of the 18 mobile runs was 80. By page: cafe Home 79, cafe Menu 78, photographer Home 84, photographer Pricing 88, shop Home 71, shop Shop page 85.
Largest Contentful Paint (how long the main picture takes) was 3.1 to 5.9 seconds on a phone. The shop Home page is the slowest and the heaviest at 1.3 MB; the photographer Pricing page weighs 0.1 MB. Total Blocking Time was 0 to 29 milliseconds and layout shift was at most 0.03.
The cafe desktop median was 97.
- One region. Relume's own panel showed 96 for performance on the cafe site, from its own test, so the two numbers differ. A second tool and three regions (WB-P1) were not run.
SEO Basics
4/5Tested- Method
- Each point was read in the live HTML and files with Indexing switched ON in Site settings, on the cafe site, which I hid from search before and after.
- Points that work
- 10 of 12
- 301 redirect
- Worked
- Per-page noindex
- Worked
- Remark
- 10 of 12 points is in the 10-or-11 band: 4/5.
Raw notes
Each point was read in the live HTML and files with Indexing switched ON in Site settings, on the cafe site, which I hid from search before and after. I also tried a 301 redirect and a per-page noindex, and read robots.txt on all three sites.
10 of the 12 points work: an editable title and description per page, one H1 per page, clean addresses (I set /gallery by hand), an automatic sitemap.xml (5 pages with Indexing on), an editable robots.txt, a canonical tag, Open Graph tags, a 301 redirect (/old-menu went to /menu) and a per-page noindex (the Contact page then said 'noindex' and left the sitemap).
Two do not: the structured data is only a WebSite and an Organization entry with no cafe or menu, and alt text could not be confirmed as editable, because the AI says an existing image's alt text changes in the asset library, which I did not open. Heading levels skip on 4 of 5 cafe pages. 14 of 18 pages have a title within 60 and a description within 155 characters.
With Indexing on, robots.txt says 'User-agent: * Allow: /' and does not name AI crawlers. With Indexing off it blocks 14 named crawlers, including GPTBot and ClaudeBot, and the sitemap goes. I switched the cafe back to hidden afterwards.
- Search Console and Bing checks (WB-S1) were not run because the sites are hidden from search. The point count treats the unconfirmed alt text as not passed.
Export & Ownership
2/5Tested- Method
- I opened the Export menu on a project and tried each export, and I looked for a way to download a published site.
- Export formats listed
- 8
- Formats that gave me a file
- 0
- Download of the published site
- None found
- Remark
- Copy and paste only: 2/5. Nothing gave me a file, and the published site has no download that I found.
Raw notes
I opened the Export menu on a project and tried each export, and I looked for a way to download a published site. I read the words on each screen. I did not buy anything and did not read the terms.
Relume has two products: Publish (host the site) and Export (take the work to Figma, Webflow, React or HTML). On the Free plan, pressing HTML opened 'Upgrade required: Export your project', and pages 2 to 5 were blurred. After the Pro plan that wall was gone: the pages opened and HTML opened 'Getting Started with HTML' with 'These components are static and do not include JavaScript functionality'.
Export to TXT opened an 'Export complete' box with a 'Copy text' button for the site's outline. Nothing downloaded a file in my browser. For the published Publish site I found no download of its code or pages; a panel says an AI tool can rebuild it in Webflow. 'Unpublish Site' takes the address down.
- I did not read the terms on who owns the content, check the clipboard after HTML, Figma, Webflow or React, or move a domain out.
Pricing & Value
4/5Tested- Method
- Every plan was read on Relume's Publish pricing page, in the yearly and the monthly view, and my own plan was read in Account settings.
- Launch hosting, billed yearly
- $12 a month (144 dollars)
- Launch hosting, billed monthly
- $16 a month
- Pro (AI), billed monthly
- $24 a month
- What I paid for Pro
- $0, on a coupon
- Remark
- 144 dollars a year is in the 120-to-199 band: 4/5. Nothing is sold through Relume, so transaction fees did not apply.
Raw notes
Every plan was read on Relume's Publish pricing page, in the yearly and the monthly view, and my own plan was read in Account settings. I could not open a checkout without entering a card. The figure graded is the yearly cost of the cheapest plan that connects a custom domain and removes the Relume badge.
Free hosting is $0: a free relumesite.ai address, a badge that is always shown, 1,500 page views a month, 20 form submissions a month and a 7-day analytics window.
Launch hosting is $12 a month billed yearly (144 dollars a year) or $16 billed monthly, per site. It adds a custom domain with SSL, no badge, 6,000 page views and unlimited forms. The Pro plan (more AI usage) is $14 a month billed yearly or $24 billed monthly.
My own plan: Pro, shown as 'Coupon applied', $0 a month, 'Normally $24/month, billed monthly', 'You save $24 every month' and 'Next charge on Nov 29, 2026'. It includes '1x AI usage' a month, and a banner offers 'Pro 5x'. The Launch renewal price is not shown without buying it.
The page also says 'Start a 7-day free trial' for Pro while an old question says there is no 7-day trial, and it names the free address both relumesite.ai and relume.live.
- I paid nothing myself, so the itemised bill (WB-M2) is $0 and I saw no upsells. The Launch renewal price, the price of a domain and the export plans need a purchase.
Coverage
Tested
- Three sites built from the fixed briefs and published on Free hosting, with the AI meter read after each build
- All 57 brief facts checked on the live pages, then every page read by hand
- Layout, accessibility (axe-core) and a keyboard walk across the three sites
- Lighthouse on two pages of each site, three mobile runs each (18 runs)
- All twelve edits on the cafe, five written instructions to the AI, custom code, a redirect and a per-page noindex
- SEO with Indexing on, export screens, the pricing page, my own plan page and the support chat
Not tested or limited
- I never bought Launch hosting, so a custom domain, form email, removing the badge and the renewal price were not tested
- The Pro plan was on an owner coupon at $0, and its AI allowance covers about two sites a month; it read 95% after my edits
- The contact form was stopped by a Cloudflare human check, so form email, a blog, bookings and an order were not tested
- Export gave no file, so I could not run an exported site elsewhere; I did not read the terms
- Support is not graded: the three questions were sent in the chat and no answer had arrived when I stopped watching
- Search Console, a second speed tool, a restore of an earlier version and two-factor sign-in were not run
- Uptime is monitored for all three test sites from 29 October 2026 for 30 days
Still to test
- The Launch hosting plan: a custom domain, form email, the badge and the renewal price
- Support's answers when they arrive
- A restore of an earlier version and two-factor sign-in
- An export run on a paid export plan
