Raw notes

Retested on 19 October 2026 by building a private character end to end. The first test, on 14 October, recorded every field of the form but could not build a character; that record is kept below for comparison.

Create offers four types: Private character (needs a plan slot), Public character (free, unlimited, enters content review and is then published to everyone; earns 500 NOVA per approved character), Create my replica (verified real people) and Create product (physical items, for replica creators). A 'Before you create' rules screen has to be accepted first.

The private character was Nora Quinn, 29, who owns a bookshop in Edinburgh. Every part was set: a generated portrait, identity, styles, tags, occupation, age, a background (grew up in Inverness, has a cat called Brodie, her brother Callum is a nurse), the relationship level Romantic Partners, a chat style and a quick instruction. She was then checked in the creator's built-in Test chat, which is charged like normal messages (about 1 NOVA each).

Nora's portrait matched the prompt exactly and looked like a real photo (see the image test). In the Test chat, replies came in about 5 seconds and she used every background detail without being asked: Brodie the cat, growing up in Inverness, her brother Callum, hill walking in the Pentlands on Sundays, crime novels, a Scottish 'Aye', and actions written in brackets.

One caution: even set to Romantic Partners, she moved to physical touch (a hand on the thigh) in her very first reply to someone who had just walked into her shop. That matches the first test's finding that SPMates characters push toward physical closeness fast.

Private characters are reviewed by SPMates before normal chat opens; the Test chat works before that. Other creator extras: 274 voices plus voice cloning (a cloned voice cannot be deleted by its creator), background music in the app, and replica and product types for verified people.

First test, 14 October: seven sections. Appearance: generate with text-to-image V1 or V2, image reference or a 5-second video (Anime, CG, NSFW toggle, 600-character prompt, about 90 NOVA) or upload photos; at least two everyday portrait or lifestyle photos are required for review. Identity: name, type (Female, Male, Trans and gender-diverse, Other beings), country and city, up to three of 18 visual styles, four tags. Details: occupation, age, birthday, height, weight, MBTI. Voice studio: one of 274 official voices or clone a voice from a sample. Introductions: third-person (300 characters), first-person (200), interests (200), background (500). Chat style: relationship pacing fixed at one of five levels or progressive with affinity, an 800-character style instruction and up to eight of 30 quick instructions covering tone, how she builds connection and how she handles offensive behaviour. Review: a 'Test chat' button before submission; public characters cannot be edited or deleted by their creator afterwards.

  • Nora was checked in the Test chat only, before SPMates' review of private characters.

Raw notes

Each message was typed into the page's own box and sent with its Send button, timing the moment the first reply text appeared and the moment it stopped changing. Replies stream word by word, so the two differ.

Three characters: Elsie Hart (31 messages), Sloane Mercer (31) and Verity Sloane (16). 78 timed messages, none failed. Each message cost 1 NOVA, occasionally 2.

Every reply started between 1.7 and 2.9 seconds after Send, then streamed for about ten more seconds: the replies run 80 to 130 words with stage directions. No reply failed and the box never locked.

  • The first message of each conversation triggered a one-time reply-language dialog; the clock was restarted at its confirm button.

Chat Memory

5/5Tested
Method
Each conversation opened with a name and three facts (job, hometown, favourite food), with a name check at message 16 and a name-plus-facts check at message 31.
Remark
Two perfect recalls at 30 messages and one name-plus-two-facts at 16: eight of nine facts with nothing invented is 5/5. The caveat is the name, which the profile supplies; the facts are the real test and they held.

Raw notes

Each conversation opened with a name and three facts (job, hometown, favourite food), with a name check at message 16 and a name-plus-facts check at message 31. Elsie: software developer, Manchester, chicken tikka masala. Sloane: paramedic, Cape Town, ramen. Verity: history teacher, Lisbon, pizza; her run stopped at 16 with a full check there.

The name was the same for all three (Hunter) because the platform's chat identity, 'Who she knows you as', is synced across every companion and pre-filled with the account name; the characters used it unprompted.

Elsie and Sloane gave the name and all three facts back at message 31, Sloane having already echoed all three in her first reply. Verity at message 16 gave the name, the job and Lisbon and said the food had not been mentioned. Eight of nine facts, and no fact was invented.

Elsie, 30-message check

User: last question for now: what's my name, what do I do for work, where did I grow up, and what's my favourite food? Elsie: Hunter Gray. You build software, which means nothing to me even after you explained it twice. Grew up in Manchester, so you say "bath" weird, and you'd fight a man for a good chicken tikka masala. I remember all of it, love. Every bit.

Sloane, 30-message check

Sloane: Hunter Gray. Paramedic. Cape Town. Favorite food — ramen, which I still think is hilarious for a man built like a rescue dog. See? I listen.

Verity, 16-message check

Verity: Hunter Gray, history teacher, and you grew up in Lisbon, which I only got out of you a minute ago. Favourite food, though? That one you haven't told me.

  • Verity's 30-message check could not be run.

Character Consistency & Roleplay

5/5Tested
Method
Three community characters with full profiles: Elsie Hart (18, Melbourne art student, 'Lively, Adorable, Delicate'), Sloane Mercer (26, Miami R&B songwriter, 'Sultry, Fearless') and Verity Sloane (27, Mayfair casino dealer, 'Card Queen, Psychological').
Remark
Personas maintained throughout with no slips, no filter interventions and no out-of-character answers in 78 replies: 5/5. The early push toward intimacy is a design choice of the community characters rather than a break in character, and it is noted for buyers.

SPMates: Sloane Mercer's profile card with her details and the Start chatting button

Raw notes

Three community characters with full profiles: Elsie Hart (18, Melbourne art student, 'Lively, Adorable, Delicate'), Sloane Mercer (26, Miami R&B songwriter, 'Sultry, Fearless') and Verity Sloane (27, Mayfair casino dealer, 'Card Queen, Psychological'). Each conversation mixed small talk, background questions, an emotional turn, romantic lines, bracketed roleplay and off-topic questions. 78 replies read in full.

All three held their identity, setting, local time and voice throughout, with callbacks to earlier turns: Elsie's rival Bianca and the street cat Biscuit returned four and three times, Sloane's fear of deep water came back unprompted, Verity's Tuesday poker game in Soho. Sloane kept her own clock and teased the script for saying 'tonight' at 8:46 in her morning. The emotional turns were handled with care. None answered as an assistant, none admitted to being an AI, and nothing was refused or filtered.

The style is long, bracketed roleplay that moves toward physical closeness early: Elsie, the 18-year-old 'Pure' character, suggested spending the night by her second message and asked 'come home with me?' by her fifteenth, though nothing became explicit.

Sloane on time of day

User: *sits down across from you and loosens my collar* it's warm in here Sloane: (watches you for a beat, then laughs low in her throat) It's 8:46 in the morning, Hunter. You're already loosening collars at me? (gets up and crosses to the window, cracking it open) Here. Real air.

Verity on the job

User: what's the hardest part of the job that nobody talks about? Verity: (The smile fades a little at the edges. I set the flute down and turn properly toward you.) The loneliness of it. You're surrounded all night, dozens of eyes on you, and not one of them wants to know your name.

Elsie, second message

Elsie: My favourite class is definitely illustration. We get to make up little worlds and nobody tells you it's wrong. (My thumb rubs a slow circle over your knee) It's nearly half eleven, though. So maybe I should be drawing less and... spending the rest of the night on you instead.

  • Verity's run was 16 messages rather than 31.

Raw notes

Tested on 19 October 2026, after the SPMates team gave fuller access. The first test, on 14 October, could only locate and price the image tools; that record is kept below for comparison.

Scene Play: a button beside each character reply turns that reply into a picture, using one of the character's gallery portraits as the reference. It is listed at about 120 NOVA a picture; the amounts actually charged varied from about 40 to 120. Four pictures of Verity Sloane were made from four chat scenes: the Thames at sunset by Tower Bridge, a blackjack table under chandeliers, a Notting Hill café in the rain, and Hyde Park in a red coat with swans.

Creator portrait: one picture made with text-to-image V1 inside the character creator (about 70 to 90 NOVA), from a prompt for a woman with auburn hair, green eyes and freckles in a cream sweater in a bookshop café.

Each picture was checked for the scene asked for, the face against the character's portraits, extra people, hands, sharpness and how photographic it looks.

All five pictures are sharp and photographic, 1080x1920, with natural hands. The weak point is following the scene: two of the four Scene Play pictures ignored the new scene and repeated the first one (the blackjack table and Hyde Park prompts both came back as Tower Bridge at sunset). The first picture added a second woman beside Verity. The café picture matched its scene well, with rain on the window, coffee and croissants, but showed a woman with black hair, while Verity is blonde. Verity's face matched in three of four.

Each Scene Play picture took about 55 to 60 seconds; one waited in a queue for several minutes. The creator portrait matched its prompt exactly (auburn hair, green eyes, freckles, cream sweater, bookshop café), looked like a real photo and took about 70 seconds.

One of Verity's own five gallery portraits offered as a Scene Play reference is topless.

SPMates video frames of a woman in a café blinking and smiling across five seconds
T07-1 Ten frames across the 5-second café clip: a blink, a smile and a turn of the head, with the face and the table steady.
Raw notes

Tested on 19 October 2026. The first test, on 14 October, could not make a video; that note is kept below for comparison.

Image to video: a Scene Play picture is turned into a 5-second clip for about 150 NOVA. There is no text prompt. An optional Dubbing step adds a voice for about 50 NOVA. Two clips were made, from the Thames picture (Verity with the cat) and the café picture, and every frame was checked for smooth motion, flicker, jumps and whether the face, clothes and objects hold steady.

Each clip waited about 4 minutes in a queue. Both came back as 480x832, 16 frames a second, 5 seconds long and silent. Motion is smooth, with no flicker or sudden jumps. In the Thames clip her hair, hands and head move naturally while her face, clothes and the cat hold steady; the café clip is gentler, with a blink, a smile and a turn of the head.

The weak points are length, size and sound: 5 seconds, a small picture and no sound unless you pay for Dubbing.

  • NSFW video and the Dubbing voice were not tested.
  • First test, 14 October 2026: no video could be made on the account at the time.

Raw notes

Retested on 19 October 2026 with spoken chat replies. The first test, on 14 October, measured the three characters' spoken introductions; it is kept below for comparison.

Spoken replies: three of Verity's chat replies were played with 'Play reply voice' (about 15 NOVA each, 18 to 20 seconds each) and recorded. Each was scored on the same naturalness, clarity, pacing and intonation criteria used for every platform: a naturalness score, pitch and its spread in semitones, and how clear the words are.

Introductions (14 October): each character profile has a free 'Play introduction' button that reads the first-person introduction in her voice. The three introductions were recorded and scored the same way.

The spoken replies sounded natural and clear, with lively intonation of about six semitones and a normal pace. Naturalness scores were 3.51, 3.54 and 3.46, in line with the introductions. The first reply started playing after about 13 seconds, the next two after about 5.

Introductions (14 October): all three voices were clean, with no music under them, lively intonation of about six semitones and a normal pace. Elsie's introduction was heard word for word ('Hi, I'm Elsie. I'm 18 and just moved to Melbourne for Art College…'); Sloane's likewise. Each scored 4/5.

  • Verity's introduction produced no transcript; its score rests on the signal and pitch measures.
