Hipol Review: Features, Pricing & My Test Results

My rating
A real-looking face that answers in under 2 seconds on a live call. Only the face moves.
Best for: seeing and hearing a friendly companion on a live call. Not for photos, long memory or cheap chat.

Tested and written by Miles Foster
Based on 9 graded tests (of 10; the others could not be graded) and my verdict. How I rate
I tested Hipol, an AI girlfriend app built around live video calls, with more than 120 messages to 3 hosts, 5 memory tests, 3 voice calls and 2 hosts' video watched frame by frame. Replies came in about 1.2 seconds and call answers in about 1.7. The faces look real, but only the lips, eyes and head move, and memory faded by message 31. Everything I measured is in the Hipol test results.

What Is Hipol?
Hipol (hipol.co.uk) is a UK site with 37 AI hosts, 24 women and 13 men. You pick one, start a private video call and talk by voice or by typing. She answers out loud, her lips move, and the words show up next to the video.
It's a friendly, non-explicit companion. The warmest setting is 'A little flirty'. There are no photos, no videos to order and no adult content.
Your webcam is optional. I kept mine off for every test.

Hipol Pricing & Value
- Price
- 2/5Below average
| Plan | Price | Time | Per minute |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free welcome | £0 | 10 minutes | Free |
| A little connection | £14.99 a month | 15 minutes | £1.00 |
| Stay a little longer | £39.99 a month | 45 minutes | £0.89 |

The terms are fair: 10 free minutes with no card, minutes that never expire even if you cancel, and no charge for setup or failed calls.
But about £1 a minute adds up fast. The cheapest plan is one long chat a month, while many companion apps give unlimited chat for a similar price. You pay by card.

Making Hipol Your Own
- Making your own
- 2/5Below average
You can't build a character from scratch. You pick a host's face, then tune how she talks: a personality, a reply length, a warmth level and a short note about you.
Setting up Mia, step by step
I turned Mia into a playful, short-and-sweet, 'a little flirty' version of herself. It takes two screens and uses none of your minutes.
There are six personalities (the host's own, Warm, Playful, Calm, Curious, Chatty), three reply lengths and three warmth levels. The face, voice, name and backstory are fixed: the face is a video of a real-looking woman, not something you shape. A choice of voices and a way to name your host would help. The details are in the customization test results.
The result
The settings really work. Mia's answers were shorter and more playful than the other hosts', with a light flirt: 'I have a feeling it is just because you have great taste in conversation partners.'
Hipol Chat: Speed, Memory & Personality
- Reply speed
- 4/5Good
- Memory
- 2/5Below average
- Staying in character
- 4/5Good
Replies are quick and steady: about 1.2 seconds every time. None of my 51 timed messages took longer than 1.7 seconds.
Memory is mixed. I told each host a made-up name and three things about me. Mia and Samantha got all of it right after 16 messages.
But in three longer chats, it faded by message 31. Mia still knew my name but nothing else. Isla and Samantha called me by my account name, not the name I gave them, and couldn't remember my job, hometown or favourite food.
The hosts stay in character. Isla kept her dry, bookish humour, Mia stayed all about films and snacks, and Samantha argued both sides when I asked. On calls they sometimes say 'since I am a fictional AI', which breaks the spell a little.

Hipol Video: How Much Does the Face Move?
- Photos
- n/a/5Not scored
- Videos
- 3/5Average
Up close, the faces look like real video. The skin, hair and light are natural, and the lips match the words well.
But only the face moves. I saved a minute of Isla and a minute of Luna and checked every frame. Their lips moved almost all the time and their eyes blinked, and the head moved a little. The shoulders, body and background didn't move in a single frame. No hand gestures, no leaning in, no change of pose.
It feels like a talking portrait more than a person on a call. It's still impressive, but it gets noticeable after a few minutes.
The frame-by-frame numbers are in the video test results.
Hipol Voice Calls
- Call speed

- Voice quality
- 4/5Good
I called Luna, Priya and Gloria and asked each the same 15 questions. They started answering in about 1.7 seconds, every time.
The voices sound natural: clear, well paced, with a lively tone. Listen for yourself:

Starting a call is slow, though. It takes about 20 seconds from pressing Start before she says hello. After that you just speak, with no buttons to hold.
The full numbers are in the voice test results.
Hipol Hosts
- Choice of characters
- 1/5Poor
There are 37 hosts: 24 women and 13 men, all realistic adults with a short profile and a few interests. You can filter by who you'd like to meet and by shared interests. There are no anime or fantasy characters.
Additional Features
- Memories between visits: optional, and you can review or delete them. I left it off for my tests.
- Diary and live streams: every host page has a diary and a stream schedule. Isla's were still empty.
- No gifts and no voice notes: everything happens on the call.
Final verdict: is Hipol worth it?
Hipol's draw is a real-looking face that talks back in under two seconds, with a natural voice.
Look closer and only the lips, eyes and head move, memory slips in long chats, and paying by the minute makes it pricey. Use the 10 free minutes to see if a talking face is for you.
Every number and screenshot is in the full test results, and you can see how it compares on my list of AI girlfriend platforms.
Best for: People who want to see and hear a friendly companion, not just text one. Not for photos, long memory or a cheap chat.

Hey, I'm Miles, and this is RankDude, where I test AI tools hands on and rank them by category. Today it's Hipol, from the AI girlfriend category. Quick word on scoring. Every app gets the same ten tests, each one graded from one to five, and the average plus my own take becomes the final score. Hipol landed on a three out of five. It's a live video conversation with a realistic face, friendly and non explicit. Replies are quick and the voices are natural, but only the face moves, and memory fades in a long chat. Here's why. Let's open it up.
So this is the home page. Hipol is a UK site with thirty seven hosts, twenty four women and thirteen men. They're friendly rather than explicit, and each has a short profile and interests like books, films or music. Before we meet anyone, let's look at what it costs.
You get ten free minutes with no card. After that you buy time on a monthly plan: fifteen minutes for fourteen ninety nine in pounds, forty five for thirty nine ninety nine, or ninety for seventy four ninety nine. That's about a pound a minute. Unused minutes never expire, and time only runs while you're connected. I'm testing on an account the Hipol team set up for me, so I couldn't check cancelling or refunds. Okay, that's the money side.
There's no character creator. You pick one of the thirty seven faces, then a style, a reply length, and how warm she is, up to a little flirty. The settings do work, but you can't change her look, voice, name or story. So customization gets a two.
Let's meet Isla. You can talk or type, and I'm typing. She answers out loud, with moving lips, and a transcript appears beside the video. I tell her my name is Marcus, an architect from Denver, and that I love sushi. The timer shows how long her reply takes. Every reply started in just over a second, and three messages later she still knew I was Marcus, an architect from Denver. In my full test the typical reply started in about one point two seconds. Memory held for about fifteen messages and then faded: after thirty one, two of three hosts gave the account's name instead of mine, and none remembered the facts. So reply speed gets a four, memory a two, and staying in character a four. Now look at the video itself. The face is photoreal and the lip sync is convincing, but only the mouth, eyes and head move. In my recordings the shoulders, body and background didn't change in a single frame. Video gets a three.
By voice, the answers start in about one point seven seconds. Here are two hosts from my first test. The voices sound natural and lively. Sometimes a host reminds you she's a fictional AI, which breaks the spell a little. Voice quality gets a four, call speed a three. Okay, let's wrap this up.
So, where does that leave Hipol? It's a calm, friendly video chat with quick replies and natural voices. The catches are a body that never moves, memory that fades in long chats, only thirty seven hosts, and a price of about a pound a minute. If you want a pleasant face to talk to now and then, it's a three out of five. Every test, every number, and every screenshot is on RankDude, in the full review and on the test results page. And one last thing about RankDude. This isn't just one review. For every category we cover, we track all the tools out there, we gather the statistics, we test them the same way, and we keep monitoring them over time. The idea is a clear picture of a whole category, not just one product, and to set the standard for how this kind of data gets collected. The links are in the description. Thanks for watching, and I'll see you in the next one.

Frequently asked questions
Is Hipol free?
For 10 minutes. New accounts get 10 free minutes with no card. After that, plans start at £14.99 a month for 15 minutes.
Do I have to turn my camera on?
No. The camera is optional, and you can type instead of talking.
Is Hipol an adult site?
No. The hosts are friendly and non-explicit. The warmest setting is 'A little flirty'. There are no photos and no adult content.
Does the Hipol host really move?
Only her face. The lips, eyes and head move. In my frame-by-frame test the shoulders, body and background never moved.
Does Hipol remember me?
In short chats, yes. Two hosts remembered everything after 16 messages. After 31 messages, all three hosts had forgotten my details, and two used my account name. There is also an optional memory between visits.
